The program is intended to improve students' logical thinking, and design thinking as well as provide a supplementary skill to meet future research and application needs. In order to apply digital and computational tools effectively, designers and planners need to understand a certain level of calculus mathematics, applied mathematics and mathematical optimization models.
This course provides a fundamental knowledge and simple yet powerful application of applied mathematics in the field of design. Students will learn useful statistical models and techniques used to collect data and store data in a tidy and appropriate way for analysis. Linear optimization models will also be introduced as part of operations research frontier.
