Brief Course Description

1. Course Title:

Bayesian Statistics

2. Language of Instruction:

Vietnamese

3. Course Code:

MAT508113

4. Credits:

5. Course Objectives:

The course Bayesian Statistics aims to equip students with knowledge of Bayesian statistical methods, enabling them to use prior information to process data and make statistical inferences. This course provides a new statistical approach that allows the use of known data and information to process and draw conclusions about new information. Specifically, students will learn how to use prior information in the study of random variables, estimate proportions, estimate means, build linear regression models, and solve other statistical problems.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

The course will introduce data analysis from the Bayesian perspective to undergraduate students. We will cover important concepts in Bayesian probability modeling as well as estimation using both optimization and simulation-based strategies. Key topics covered in the course include hierarchical models, mixture models, hidden Markov models and Markov Chain Monte Carlo.
