5. Course Objectives:

The course is designed to introduce Engineering drawing as a means of professional engineering communication. Engineering drawing course provides fundamental knowledge to emphasize the importance of drawing as a language for engineers; to develop skills in engineering drawing and drafting; to develop skills in interpretation of engineering drawings; to develop skills in computer aided drafting and design.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course serve as an introduction for students who are new to cumputer aided design and focuses on help them to read, interpret, and generate the technical drawing. The students learn how understand and preparing the technical drawing, including sketching, preparing orthorgraphics views, sectional views, isometric view, assembly drawings and how to demonstrate the basic machine parts according to the standards.

The course is included in four parts. The first part will introduce the standards for engineeering drawing anh related documentation practices. The second part will train students using autoCAD to represent the design with 2D drawing. The third part will introduce the projection methods and its application on building perpendicular views, sectional view and interpret the objects. The final part will introduce how to illustrate machine parts, how to exploded pictorial assemblies, how to preparing a diagram and how to draw a free hand sketching.
