Project management is a combination of science and art. The artistic aspect is reflected in the ability to manage people and projects, while the scientific aspect includes tools and management techniques that form the foundation of the project management process. The Project Management course integrates management knowledge through concepts, analytical methods, processes, and basic project management tools, helping to solve the challenges of project implementation to create and deliver specific outcomes that meet requirements in terms of scope, quality, time, and budget.
This course is divided into seven sections:
- Section one: Provides an overview of projects and project management, helping students understand key concepts such as project characteristics, project lifecycle, management processes, the importance of project management, stakeholders, the role of project managers, and project organizational structures.
- Section two: Equips students with knowledge on project initiation and selection. This section covers the process of project formation, the connection between projects and strategic goals, various project selection models, and evaluation criteria. Additionally, it discusses the fundamental components of a project statement to ensure effective communication with stakeholders.
- Section three: Focuses on project planning, presenting the importance of project planning and basic planning frameworks, including defining project objectives, developing a work breakdown structure, organizing project teams, scheduling, resource planning, and cost estimation. Students will also learn about scheduling diagrams (AON, Gantt...) using Excel.
