This course provides students with knowledge and skills to effectively manage operations in public organizations and to understand how to combine individual activities aimed at accomplishing the goals of the organization. This course covers three main contents:
• Introducing the concepts of management, the jobs of managers, and management history module.
• Analyzing the factors affecting management in public organizations such as organizational environment, organizational culture, social responsibility and ethics, diversity and innovation.
• Presenting the four main functions of management including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
Students will be equipped with skills such as critical thinking, decision making, diversity management, and employee motivation. Through the course, students are expected to improve their knowledge and skills to apply to their own work and life. This course is the premise for other management subjects including: Leadership in the Public Sector, Strategic Management for Public Organizations, Human Resource Management for Public Organizations.
