Understand the role of the modern manager and how effective managers work Understand that management deals with both technical constraints and human factor Have fundamental knowledge in management theory and management’s decision-making process Comprehend the four stages in the administrative process: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling Have some familiarity with the global workplace environment (including diversity issues, culture values, and corporate social responsibilities, ethics) Explain the role played by managers in developing competitive, productive, and rewarding organizations is affected by other stakeholders.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course provides an introduction to management of business organizations and provides students with fundamental concepts in management, including the development process of managerial theories, decision-making process, and the basic functions of management such as planning, organizing, leading, and controlling activities in organization in order to achieve its common objectives efficiently and effectively. Management can be viewed as both an art and a science. The art of management is to make people and the organization more effective and efficient. The science is the methods and tools to accomplish the objectives and goals. Thus, management focuses on the entire organization from both a short-term and a long-term perspective. Managerial process starts with the formation of the strategic vision, setting objectives, crafting a strategy and then implementing and executing the strategy.
