5. Course Objectives:

This course includes industry experts, guest lectures, case studies, and practical applications to help students analyze real-life export challenges and implement effective solutions. Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to: Identify the suitable international transportation modes, weight and packaging of products, market, etc. to optimize the export landed cost and price, Develop a well-planned export strategy to enhance a company's international competitiveness. Identify the main types of documentation used in international trade transactions in order to efficiently manage production, inventory, delivery and returns to meet international demands and to reduce a company's risk. Apply standard trade terminology used in international transactions and using INCOTERMS, clarify the risk and responsibilities during the transfer of goods from seller to buyer. Compare international payment methods associated with specific trading situations in order to determine the exporters' risks for not receiving payment. Identify and explain the elements of export strategy and recognize their impact on management of the global enterprise.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This unit teaches students about the management perspectives and the operational requirements needed for a successful export initiative. Specific topics include strategic intent, capability assessment, information gathering, export entry models evaluation, market mix factors, risk management, export finance, logistics and sales management. The overriding aim of the unit is to enable students to be confident in working in an international business environment and to seek out and undertake management and operational tasks necessary to the global development of the firm.
