UEH is nothing if not traditional. In the age of modernity and advancements, it is so easy to overlook and forget the simpler things in life. On top of that, the daily burdens of work and responsibilities easily strip us of any freedom to tread any further than the duties we have to fulfill. This is how traditions go out of style and practices become obsolete as more generations enter the workforce. 

 

Knowing this and being extremely reliant on history, the University Board is adamant on celebrating the “old” among the “new” with various activities that highlight the very essence of the UEH spirit, one of which was our annual “Ao Dai Week” that is often organized in observance of International Women’s Day. For 2021, it happened to coincide with the worldwide festivities of the 11th anniversary of IWD.

 

For a whole week leading up to March 8, 2021, the ladies dawned on their best “ao dai” while the gentlemen sported their most flattering button-ups (some even wore ties) for a departmental commemorative picture, where they later went down into UEH’s longstanding history of “ao dai” contest. 

 

As part of the UEH community, RMIC also took part in the competition among others at the University. While our force may be minute, our best cards were rolled out, and in the end, we were rewarded for our efforts. 

 

 

Through voting and social media sharings, 27 departments have participated in the contest, with nearly 130 submissions and an impressive social media reach of 64.3k users, 1.4k shares and 5.1k likes.
