The overall objective is to empower women leadership in Vietnamese higher educational institutions through navigating retirement age reforms and cultural barriers.

The project aims to address the underrepresentation of women in leadership roles in higher education institutions (HEIs) in Vietnam. The context stems from the retirement age reform policy (increasing the retirement age for women from 55 to 60) and cultural barriers such as Confucianism, patriarchal ideology, and hierarchical mechanisms that make it difficult for women to advance.

Through a collaboration between the University of York (UK) and UEH, the project conducts quantitative and qualitative research, workshops to enhance leadership capacity for female lecturers, roundtable discussions with policymakers, and develops policy recommendations.
