UEH-JABES attending the Workshop on “Research Ethics for Editorial Members” with Emerald Publishing House in Taiwan under the framework of the Scopus Accession Project from the Ministry of Education and Training

On July 5^th and 6^th, 2023, the delegation of the Journal of Asian Business and Economic Research (JABES) attended a workshop on publishing strategy and principles of publishing ethics by international practice hosted by Emerald International Publishing House in Taiwan. During this visit and business, the delegation attended the Workshop Training with the workshop on “Research Ethics for Editorial Members”.

On behalf of JABES under the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), there was the participation of: Prof. Nguyen Trong Hoai - Editor-in-Chief of JABES; Dr. Huynh Luu Duc Toan - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of JABES and the delegation.

On behalf of Emerald International Publishing House in Taiwan, there was the attendance of: Stan Lee – Regional Director; Judy Yeh - Publishing Service Manager (In charge of JABES Support) with other members.

JABES delegation attended the Seminar on International Practices Publishing Strategy with Emerald International Publishing House in Taiwan. At the Conference, Prof. Garry Tan Wei Han - Editor-in-Chief of UCSI Press at UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), shared his valuable knowledge and experience in SSCI-rated journals as well as suggested effective communication strategies to engage researchers and readers in the academic community around the world as well as to increase the opportunities to connect with a global network of journals.

JABES also attended Workshop Training with the “Publication Ethics for Editorial Members” Theme. Ms. Serena Tsai - Emerald Publishing Service Manager - presented the everyday situations upon managing journals and shared ethical principles regarding publishing by international practices.

In conjunction with this business trip, JABES has reached new agreements upon directly exchanging essential content in the JABES development strategy in the near future with Emerald Publishing House. These focus on publishing policies, open data policies, editorial policies, governance policies and email responses to author/reviewer communications, special issue publishing policies, and communication policies on multiple social media platforms.

Emerald Publishing’s policy consultation process and UEH-JABES’ efforts have enabled UEH to include JABES in various prestigious Global Journal Rankings in which SCOPUS has ranked Q1 ahead of the regulation timeline requested by the Scopus Accession Project approved by the Ministry of Education and Training. This is a big step forward, contributing to UEH’s roadmap towards becoming a University with an academic reputation and sustainable action in the region, besides contributing to enhancing Vietnam’s identity in international educational forums in general.
