Talkshow on “Developing the Student Co-operative Model and Business Start-up Initiatives of Students at Vinh Long Campus”

With the aims of sharing the experience of constructing and developing the student co-operative model (SCM) at Vinh Long Campus as well as forming and promoting business start-up initiatives among students, therefore, creating an environment for them to implement the job of starting up, applying taught knowledge to reality, boosting the spirit of creativity and responsibility in their work, training their skills, and creating job opportunities and incomes for students, on the afternoon of April 15^th, 2022, UEH Vinh Long Campus held a talkshow on “Developing the Student Co-operative Model and Business Start-up Initiatives of Students at Vinh Long Campus”

Attending the program, in terms of delegate guests, were Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thang - Director of Operations of Saigon Co.op, Mr. Tran Anh Quang - Director of Co.op Xtra Hypermarket, and Mr. Van Quoc Hoang - Director of Co.opmart Vinh Long Supermarket. In terms of Vinh Long Campus, there was the participation of Ph.D. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of UEH and Director of Vinh Long Campus and representatives of Heads of Vinh Long Campus’s Units, lecturers, and more than 500 students who are full-time K46 and K47.

The program included 2 sessions: (1) Contributions to the operation charter of the SCM at Vinh Long Campus, (2) A talk show on “Developing the SCM and Business Start-up Initiatives of Students at Vinh Long Campus”.

In the program Contributions to the operation charter of the SCM, after the campus introduced briefly the organization process and operation at the beginning time of the SCM and summarized the draft of the SCM Operation Charter, simultaneously, gave some clues on the operation orientation of the SCM in the upcoming time.

Participating in the talk show “Developing the SCM and Business Start-up Initiatives of Students at Vinh Long Campus”, guest speakers shared and discussed with lecturers and more than 500 students of full-time K46 and K47 at Vinh Long Campus about the SCM Model and the job of starting up among students.

Opening the talk show, Ph.D. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of UEH and Director of Vinh Long Campus emphasized the operation of SCM was to create an environment for students to deploy starting up a business, to apply taught knowledge to reality, to promote the spirit of creativity and responsibility in their work, to train their skills, and to create job opportunities and incomes for students.

Besides, Master Dang Thuy Linh - Lecturer at School of Management - introduced briefly the operation of SCM in the beginning time, summarized the draft of the SCM Operation Charter, in which the content about the rights and responsibilities of the members of the SCM and the regulations about the organization and operation of the SCM were emphasized. At the same time, Master Linh implemented the performance procedure for the preparation job of the conference establishing the SCM and offered students to brainstorm their ideas of evolving the business activities of the SCM to register for participation as a candidate for the Board of Management of the SCM.

In the main session of the talk show, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thang - Director of Operations of Saigon Co.op presented the development of the SCM as well as evolving business start-up initiatives and inspired starting up a business to students. After his presentation was the Q&A session that recorded exciting discussions among students, speakers, and the Board of Directors of Vinh Long Campus.

Discussing in the talk show, Ph.D. Bui Quang Hung informed that in the upcoming time, with the increasing number of learners, the SCM needs to orient to expand its business products in the future to create experience and job opportunities for students.

Ending the talk show, Master Nguyen Thi Thy Lieu - Standing Deputy Director of Vinh Long Campus - once emphasized the meaning of organizing the SCM and the importance of the job of starting up among students as well as sent her appreciation to the speakers who practically shared and inspired students of Vinh Long Campus to start-up.

The talkshow “Developing the Student Co-operative Model and Business Start-up Initiatives of Students at Vinh Long Campus” took place successfully with the enthusiastic participation of speakers and the exciting concerns of students. More meaningfully, the program helped the students of Ving Long Campus understand better the targets and meaning of the SCM among students, in particular, and in the job of students starting up, in general.

Currently, the SCM has been in the middle of the preparation process for the establishing conference to pass the SCM Operation Charter and elect officially the Board of Management and Board of Controlling.
