Talkshow “Dive Into Actuarial Career” Season 2

On the morning of April 7, 2024, the second season of Talkshow "Dive Into Actuarial Career" organized by the School of Mathematics and Statistics, UEH College of Technology and Design (UEH - CTD) took place enthusiastically and excitedly, attracting more than 1,000 student participants .

Actuary – Risk management and insurance specialist – a profession that requires precision, discipline and systematic training. However, for these highly specialized programs, not everyone knows and understands this major well.

To help students answer the questions Who is an Actuary? What do they do? Where do they work? What is the salary? What are the opportunities for advancement? Etc., the School of Mathematics - Statistics, UEH - CTD organized the Talkshow "Dive Into Actuarial Career" for the second season with guests who are reputable experts in this field, lecturers with teaching experience and outstanding students of the UEH Actuarial Program. The talk show was held in a hybrid format: Live in hall A.116 and online on the Microsoft Teams platform, attracting more than 1,000 participant students.

Participating in the program, on behalf of the guests, there was the presence of Mr. Nguyen Quang Duy - FSA - CERA, Chief Actuary, AIA Vietnam; Mr. Le Trung Hau - CEO & Co-Founder of On English; Mr. Mai Ngoc Thanh Danh - FSA - MAAA, Consulting Actuary, Milliman; Mr. Nguyen Phan Thien Vu - K46 Alumni of UEH Risk Analysis and Actuarial Program and Professional Trainee, Sun Life Vietnam.

On behalf of UEH, there was the participation of Dr. Tran Thi Tuan Anh - Deputy Head of Department of Mathematics - Statistics, UEH - CTD; Deputy Heads of Departments and lecturers of the School of Mathematics and Statistics; and the presence of more than 1,000 students from high schools and universities across the country and some international students.

Opening the program, Ms. Bui Thi Le Thuy - Deputy Head of the Department of Economic Mathematics - shared some information about UEH Actuarial program. Specifically, this was a program in the field of Economic Mathematics and would provide students with foundation knowledge of applied mathematics and statistics to assess risk in insurance, finance, and other fields. Besides, she emphasized the advantages and introduced career opportunities for students of this program after graduation.

The program was followed by a discussion by speakers Dr. Tran Thi Tuan Anh, Mr. Nguyen Quang Duy, Mr. Mai Ngoc Thanh Danh, Mr. Nguyen Phan Thien Vu, which brought a lot of useful information about actuarial work, salary, advancement opportunities for this profession in Vietnam, learning experience, required professional certificates as well as necessary skills that students needed to be equipped with before participating in the labor market.

During the Q&A section, students enthusiastically asked many questions and discussed with the speakers. Many interesting issues raised were thoroughly answered by the speakers, bringing a multi-dimensional perspective to students.

Closing the program, students participated in minigames and lucky draws and received attractive gifts from On English and AIA Vietnam.

Talkshow "Dive Into Actuarial Career" season 2 took place successfully, bringing a lot of useful knowledge to motivate students who have been choosing UEH Acturial Program, helping them be confident in their choice and strive to develop themselves to conquer their goals.
