The 2nd International Conference on Resilience by Technology and Design (RTD 2024) is an important academic event in the field of technology and design associated with sustainable development co-organized by University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and 12 prestigious international universities from Italy, Australia, Korea, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, and Japan.
RTD 2024 is to take place within 4 days from July 15-18, 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City (UEH Campus B, 279 Nguyen Tri Phuong) and in the Mekong Delta (UEH Vinh Long Campus) co-hosted by UEH College of Technology and Design and UEH Vinh Long Campus.
RTD 2024 promises to be an ideal venue for academic exchange on promoting sustainability through technology and design. The conference includes a series of keynote speeches, special sessions and parallel sessions.
Below is the introduction regarding the Keynote Speakers of RTD 2024:
Dr. Sangwoo Park - Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea (MOLIT)
Dr. Sangwoo Park, born in 1961 in Busan, South Korea, is currently the Minister of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT). He holds a PhD in Urban Planning from Gachon University. With extensive experience in urban planning and development, he has contributed to shaping many important policies and strategies for Korea. At the RTD 2024, Mr. Sangwoo Park will have a keynote speech on the topic "Smart City Strategy of Korea". The presentation will provide new perspectives on smart urban construction, with many innovative initiatives in city transport infrastructure.

Professor Alvaro Manuel Mendes Barbosa - University of Saint Joseph, Macau
Alvaro Barbosa is Vice-Chancellor and Professor at University of Saint Joseph, Macau. He has over 20 years of experience with a rich academic background in the fields of Engineering, Arts and Computer Science. In particular, he has made various outstanding achievements in the fields of Music Experimental Networks and Interactive Sound System Design during his Postdoctoral Research at Stanford University (USA) in 2010. At RTD 2024, Professor Alvaro Barbosa will present the topic "Benchmarking Sustainability: Neurosciences and AI Tech Research in Macau". His presentation will provide groundbreaking insights into the application of neuroscience and AI technology in sustainable development.

Professor Wei-Chih Lin - National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan
RTD 2024 is honored to have the participation of Professor Wei-Chih Lin from National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan, a leading expert in the field of mechanical and electromechanical engineering. He obtained a PhD from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. He holds more than thirty patents and has published more than fifty research papers, focusing on areas of mechatronic design, human-machine systems, assistive devices, sensors, and bioengineering.
In his keynote speech at RTD 2024, Professor Wei-Chih Lin will present "Smart Agricultural Robots Transforming the Current and Future of Farming".

Professor Wim Vanhaverbeke - University of Antwerp, Belgium
Professor Wim Vanhaverbeke is, currently, the Academic Director of the Master of Management Program at Antwerp School of Management, Belgium. With an illustrious career in the field of technology and innovation management, he was honored by the International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT) as one of the top 50 researchers in the period 2008-2012. From April 2018 to March 2021, he was also a member of the Advisory Committee of the Center for Technology Innovation Research at Tsinghua University.
At the conference, Professor Vanhaverbeke will present the topic “Lack of Understanding of the Innovation Ecosystem Leading to Slow Adoption of Digital Technology Applications: Examples from Digital Healthcare and Precision Agriculture”.

Professor Kelly Shannon and Professor Bruno De Meulder - KU Leuven University, Belgium
Professor Kelly Shannon and Professor Bruno De Meulder from KU Leuven, Belgium will be the keynote speakers at the RTD 2024. Professor Shannon, currently, Director of the Master of Human Settlements and the Master of Urbanism, Landscape and Planning programs, together with Professor De Meulder, Coordinator of the Master of Human Settlements and the Master of Urbanism, Landscape and Planning programs, will deliver a promising presentation entitled “A Socio-Ecological Turn for the Mekong Delta: Accentuating Indigenous Logics”. In this presentation, attendees will explore how ecological and social principles can be applied to sustainable development for the Mekong Delta while highlighting the role of indigenous logics in urban and landscape design.

Lesly Goh is a renowned international policy advisor, working to drive data and technology innovation in emerging markets in the areas of FinTech, AgTech, Climate, and Digital Transformation in Government. Lesly is a Senior Technology Advisor, Former Chief Technology Officer of the World Bank Group. She is also a Fulbright Fellow, and Senior Fellow at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. She is a Board Member of GovTech Singapore and Advisor to the Harvard Project on Asian and International Relations. At RTD 2024, Professor Lesly Goh will deliver a keynote speech titled “Sowing the Seeds for a More Sustainable Food System”, exploring strategies and solutions towards building a more sustainable food system.

Dr. Javed I. Khan, Professor and Chair of the Department of Computer Science at Kent State University, is a leading expert in the field of network infrastructure. With over two decades of experience, he has designed national high-speed networks listed as BdREN and NgREN for Bangladesh and Nigeria. At RTD 2024, he will present “ Research in Programmable Networking ,” which explores cutting-edge research in the field of programming networks.
