ELG2026 | The International Conference “Systemic Sustainability: Analysis and Policy Design in the Age of Multiple Transitions”

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), the College of Economics, Law and Government (CELG) cordially invites researchers to attend the 2026 Annual International Conference on Economics, Law and Government (ELG). The conference will be held under the overarching theme: “Systemic Sustainability: Analysis and Policy Design in the Age of Multiple Transitions.”

The conference is designed as a multidisciplinary academic platform, connecting regional and international scholars, policymakers, and industry experts. It aims to facilitate the exchange of research findings, the sharing of practical insights, and the deliberation of innovative solutions to enhance adaptive capacity, ensure sustainable development, and optimize the benefits of the digital transition across Southeast Asia.

The ELG 2026 conference serves as an interdisciplinary forum where academics, researchers, and professionals will convene to address critical issues encompassing: economics, technology, and public finance; law and resilience governance; public administration, policy design, and post-crisis recovery; quantitative methodologies for sustainable development and digital transformation; alongside perspectives from the arts, humanities, and linguistics aimed at cultivating a more sustainable and adaptable future. The conference is honored to feature three distinguished keynote speakers:

🔹 Prof. Leonard Wantchekon - Princeton University, USA

Professor Wantchekon is a world-leading expert in assessing the impact of political institutions and historical events on long-term economic development. As the founder of the African School of Economics, he has made significant contributions to bridging governance theory with practical solutions, particularly in developing countries. Professor Wantchekon currently serves as a member of the United Nations High-Level Expert Group on “Beyond GDP.”

🔹 Prof. Serguei Maliar - Stanford University, USA

Professor Maliar is renowned for pioneering the application of machine learning algorithms to solve complex macroeconomic problems. The intersection of advanced computational technology and economic theory in his research is highly relevant to the context of the "digital transition" – one of the core pillars of ELG 2026.

🔹 Assoc. Prof. Ermal Frasheri - Seoul National University, Korea

Assoc. Prof. Ermal Alfred Frasheri is a distinguished expert in international development, public law, and migration with over 25 years of global experience. A graduate of the prestigious Harvard Law School with an LL.M. and an S.J.D., he currently serves as an Associate Professor at Seoul National University School of Law. He seamlessly integrates academic research with real-world policy engagement, serving as an Independent Expert for the United Nations and advising governments on institutional reform. Frasheri's profound insights into the intersection of law, economic development, and policy design will provide highly strategic perspectives for the ELG2026 conference.

In addition to the plenary sessions featuring prominent keynote speakers, the ELG2026 International Conference offers a multidimensional academic environment, comprising 30 regular sessions and 14 thematic sessions. During these sessions, nearly 200 research presentations by global scholars will be delivered, focusing on the analysis of highly topical and deeply impactful issues. This provides an ideal platform for attendees to update their knowledge, share academic insights, and expand their professional networks.
