ICBS 2026 Pre-Conference Workshop: Publishing in Tourism Review and Avoiding Desk Rejections

As part of its commitment to creating meaningful academic value and strengthening research capabilities within the scholarly community, the International Conference on Business Sustainability (ICBS 2026) will organize a series of Pre-Conference Workshops alongside its main conference sessions.

Featuring distinguished international scholars and editors of reputable academic journals, the workshop series provides faculty members, researchers, PhD candidates, and aspiring authors with opportunities to explore current trends in academic research and publishing, engage directly with leading experts, and enhance their capacity for international publication.

The workshop offers participants a valuable opportunity to engage directly with Professor Dimitrios Buhalis, Editor-in-Chief of Tourism Review, a leading international journal in the field of tourism and hospitality published by Emerald Publishing.

Drawing on his extensive experience as an internationally recognized scholar and journal editor, Professor Buhalis will share practical perspectives on the academic publishing process and provide guidance for researchers seeking to improve the quality and positioning of their manuscripts.

Key topics of the workshop will include:

• Experiences and strategies for publishing in Tourism Review and other high-quality international journals;
• Common reasons for desk rejection and practical approaches to reducing the risk of early rejection;
• The peer-review process and the expectations of editors and editorial boards when evaluating submitted manuscripts;
