SMARTCITY+ FESTIVAL

SMARTCITY+ is a series of events launched by UEH in 2021 with the collaboration of over thirty local and international partners, including universities, businesses, non-governmental organizations, and so on. Teaching, workshops and seminars, research, projects, exhibitions, studios, and community initiatives are all part of SMARTCITY+ 2021. To achieve sustainable development, this series of events aims to establish the SMARTCITY brand based on cultural values, technology, and efficient urban problem-solving with available resources. This is accomplished by developing an integrated platform on which universities, research institutions, governments, businesses, and communities nationwide and worldwide can collaborate to carry out their mission. The 2021 - SMARTCITY+ series of activities are aimed towards Generation Z (those aged 15 to 30). This is the demographic that makes up the majority of Vietnam's urban population, and it symbolizes the country's future.

Many activities in a series of events have been planned for 2021 to draw the attention of young people, professionals, and the media. Webinars in the Rehabilitation & Reintegration series, ArtTech Fusion and Initiation, the 2nd international design competition, international studios, and other scientific research and art initiatives are among them.

To summarize the activities of the SMARTCITY + series of events, UEH is excited to announce that the SMARTCITY+ Festival will take place as follows:

Time: December 17, 2021, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Location: Campus B – UEH, 279 Nguyen Tri Phuong, Ward 5, District 10, HCMC

The program is open to the public and totally free of charge, with a variety of activities taking place during the day on December 17, including:

1. Exhibition Smartcity+

Location: campus B – UEH 279 Nguyen Tri Phuong District 10, HCMC, Vietnam

Time: 8:00 am to 6:00 pm (GMT+7)

The exhibition content:
TOP 10 entries in international design competitions.
Projects of international studios in urban design areas.
The R2S project with VR combines a bicycle model that allows visitors to experience the transportation in Vietnam.
Other partners’ projects.

2. Webinars

Session 1: City for All: Accessibility, Inclusion, and Equity.

Session 2: Ho Chi Minh city: Identity and Sustainability.

Location: Room B1.205, campus B-UEH

Time: 3:00 pm – 5:40 pm (GMT+7)

Attendees will listen from top experts and professors from Handong Global University (Korea), Milan Polytechnic University (Italy), Hasselt University (Belgium), and Auckland University (New Zealand), as well as representatives from the World Smart City Forum.

3. Workshops Design+

Location: campus B – UEH 279 Nguyen Tri Phuong District 10, HCMC, Vietnam

Workshops content:

9:00 am – 11:00 am (GMT+7): Workshop 1 - Painting on canvas paper with Tipsy Art.

1:00 pm – 3:00 pm (GMT+7): Workshop 2 - Painting on canvas paper with Tipsy Art.

1:00 pm – 3:00 pm (GMT+7): Workshop 3 - Learning about waste recycling and practicing paper recycling using 3D molds.

Coming to the workshop, you will have the opportunity to explore and uncover your creative potential via painting sessions and learn about the waste life cycle and make useful crafts from waste. Tipsy Art, Recycle One, and Fablab are among the organizations involved in the project. This is also a UEH Zero Waste Campus initiative activity.

Note: Each workshop may only have a maximum of 15 participants. When you register via our link, it is free of charge.

4. Talk show Education+:

Location: campus B – UEH 279 Nguyen Tri Phuong District 10, HCMC, Vietnam

Time: 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

Through exchange programs and dual degree programs, the program allows students to study and work at university partners. Notably, for the first time, the University of Auckland - New Zealand (UOA) and UEH-ISCM created a 2+2 dual degree program between the two institutions, with majors in Architecture and Smart Urban Design (UEH-ISCM) and Architecture (UOA).

5. Music show and other artistic activities

Location: campus B – UEH 279 Nguyen Tri Phuong District 10, HCMC, Vietnam

Time: 8:00 am - 8:30; 11:00 am - 11:30 am; 5:00 pm - 5:30 pm

The show comprises solo piano, violin, acoustic, and flash mob dance performances by GenZ UEH students and students from other universities.

6. The closing ceremony of the SMARTCITY+ and the award of the 2nd international design competition

Location: Room B1.302

Time: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm (GMT+7)

The program will reflect on a year of operation of the SMARTCITY+ series of events, announce the results of the second international design competition, and cannot be complete without the performances of students of UEH and other universities in HCMC.
