10 outstanding UEH activities in 2024

1. Entering the Top 501-600 World Universities in 2025 according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings and other rankings - Achievements of the comprehensive internationalization journey

2024 recorded proud results as UEH officially entered the Top 501-600 World Universities in 2025 according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings; entered the Top 650 in the world and Top 162 Sustainable Universities (QS World Ranking Sustainability 2025); UEH's Finance, Economics, and Management programs ranked high in the world according to the ShanghaiRanking 2024. These rankings have affirmed UEH's reputation, quality and research internationally. Concurrently, this has demonstrated UEH's commitment to implementing the Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University strategy, using knowledge as a foundation to address social challenges and create positive impacts through academic activities.

2. Early completion of the restructuring of functional management units and the organization of training programs and courses of the Multidisciplinary University

UEH has completed restructuring and reorganizing the apparatus of units according to the multidisciplinary university model one quarter earlier than expected. Implementing Resolution No. 40-NQ/DU of the UEH Party Committee on restructuring, organizing, and rearranging functional management units, UEH has completed the establishment of Department of Training; Department of Facilities Management, Department of Research - Development and Global Engagement, Department of Finance and Investment Planning, Human Resources and Organization Development Department, Department of Communications and Partnerships, Department of Student Affairs, University Office, Office for Communist Party and Organizations, Department Quality Assurance and Curriculum Development, Center for Educational Testing; reducing the number of focal points of management units from 16 to 10 departments and 1 center. In addition, UEH has completed the reorganization of the position of Program Director and the plan to organize managers in charge of courses in the condition that there is no longer divisions. Up to the current time, UEH has fully operated the 3-level model: University - Functional Departments/Member Colleges/Branches (Campuses) - Schools/Institutes/Units under the College/Branch (Campus), creating an important premise for the new development period 2025 - 2030.

3. Completing admission, marketing for training programs - Improving comprehensive input quality

The admission work of all levels and training systems of UEH in 2024 has been completed with the transformation from "Admission - Career Orientation" to "Sustainable Career Orientation", providing learners with various choices of multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and cross-disciplinary training programs. Especially applying communication technologies, combining support services and incentive policies to attract learners; programs, events, free tools for the prospective student community, contributing to spreading sustainable educational values to the whole society. Along with efforts in implementing communication campaigns for all levels; direct admission communication programs in more than 30 localities and 100 schools; spreading messages through more than 120 communication channels and so on, helping the University achieve targets for most training programs. Admission for new programs achieved good results with high entrance scores. UEH - Vinh Long maintained their stable admission scale, and especially increased the number of short-term learners.

4. Improving the quality of training programs according to international standards; integrating knowledge, technological skills and sustainable development

In 2024, UEH continues to strive to standardize the training program according to the Glocal training pillar, not only meeting the requirements of society or training in the fields that are of its strengths but also gradually moving towards proactively empowering learners listed as requesting learning, research, and practice on sustainability through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary training programs. To date, 7 UEH training programs have been recognized as meeting AUN-QA standards and 19 training programs have been recognized as meeting FIBAA standards. The programs are personalized according to the needs of learners, linked to practice, continuous and lifelong learning to contribute to the 17 SDGs.

Multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary knowledge related to global issues and 17 SGDs have been gradually integrated into 56 training programs by UEH. This is reflected in the regular redesign and review of all course outlines, output standards, and learning materials in each industry, major, training roadmap, and training course. In particular, the outstanding difference of graduates from UEH is that they are all equipped with knowledge of 6 subjects related to trends and the times, including Introduction to Data Science, Soft Skills, Entrepreneurship, Psychology, Design Thinking, and Sustainable Development. Concurrently, UEH sustainably integrates extracurricular programs and enhances the application of technologies in training activities such as Gamification, AI application, XR, studio lab and so on.

5. Promoting scientific activities, international cooperation, and research for the community

Along with training activities, UEH's scientific research has been promoted and developed in recent times. The Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies (JABES) continues to be ranked Q1 in SCOPUS and is officially indexed in ERIM 2024-2028. Along with that are a series of impressive research achievements of UEH in 2024 as follows: A total of 82 topics have been accepted (including 1 Nafosted-level topic, 11 Ministry and equivalent topics, 70 university-level topics); 10 state-level topics were registered during the year; 42 research topics related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) according to UEH's orientation; 1,297 student research topics completed with 689 winning topics; 127 registered projects of students on developing new ideas, applying technology, solutions in sustainable development, circular economy, green living, zero waste, reducing emissions, sustainable local economic development; Organizing 19 international conferences such as: Joint Asian Conference on Business and Economic Studies 2024 (J-ACBES 2024), 2nd International Conference on "Resilience by Technology and Design" (RTD 2024), International Conference on Business Theories & Practices" (iCOB 2024), International Conference on Economics, Law and Government 2024 (ELG2024), 3rd ArtTech Fusion Series (ATF24), 3 national conferences; and 481 ISI/Scopus/ABDC international publications and so on.

6. Promoting innovation, strengthening cohesion, initially forming the City University model

Implementing the social responsibility of a national key public university, in the past year, UEH has implemented training activities for local officials and leaders through the programs of Master of Public Policy in Advanced Management, Master of Smart City Management, Master of Advanced Management in Public Management and so on and short-term training courses for the Southeast region, the Mekong Delta (Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Vinh Long, Long An, Dong Thap, Ben Tre,) with the goal of contributing to sustainable development. 12 consulting and transfer contracts were signed between UEH and partners; 50 UEH policy review studies ordered by state agencies, the government, departments and localities (in the form of reports and proceedings). In particular, UEH inaugurated the Mekong Delta Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MCIE) with the mission of spreading knowledge, promoting and developing the startup ecosystem in the Mekong Delta region; together with the Institute of Innovation, UEH has incubated 32 new startup groups in 2024, promoting the innovative startup ecosystem, initially forming the City University model.

7. Strongly developing training, research, and consulting in the field of Technology and Design towards application

With a multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approach, the specialized knowledge of at UEH is designed to intersect different fields, especially the fields of Technology and Applied Design. By 2024, UEH will have 13 multidisciplinary undergraduate programs that meet modern trends and human resource needs for future generations listed as Technology and innovation, Digital communication and multimedia design, Financial technology (Fintech), Marketing technology (Martech), Digital business (Digital business), Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (Robot & AI), Logistics and supply chain technology engineer (Logtech), Information security, Information technology, Computer science, ArtTech, Intelligent control and automation and Master's degree program in Technology Management. New programs on technology and design have attracted great interest from learners and high entrance scores. In addition, nearly 100 extracurricular educational activities, competitions, seminars, and events with topics related to sustainable development, environmental protection, green technology, green economy, green university, circular economy, sustainable cities, etc. have taken place. Concurrently, UEH provides consulting and implements projects on smart cities and sustainable development in localities. The RTD 2024 attracted more than 200 leading researchers and experts around the world to present in nearly 60 sessions, with 129 research papers and presentations on the topic of promoting sustainability through technology and design.

8. UEH marking 5 years of expanding its space through a series towards the 5th Anniversary of UEH Vinh Long with outstanding marks affirming UEH's position and mission in the Mekong Delta.

This is also an important basis for UEH to continue its strategy of expanding its campus to the Central region with the establishment of UEH Branch (Campus) in Nha Trang Khanh Hoa Province.

In the 5-year journey of formation and development (2020 - 2024), University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City Campus in Vinh Long Province (UEH Vinh Long) has made remarkable changes with 5 outstanding marks in: Training, Research, Internationalization, Knowledge Transfer, Community Connection. Within 5 years of operation, the training scale at UEH Vinh Long has reached 3,000 students of all levels. The first generation of new graduates of UEH Vinh Long in 2024 was 100% of students ranked as Good, Excellent, Excellent and having jobs after graduation, which has reflected the suitability between UEH Vinh Long's training programs and the needs of the regional labor market, increasingly affirming its role and mission of in training and developing high-quality human resources for the Mekong Delta region and the whole country. Welcoming the new journey of UEH Vinh Long, the 5th Anniversary Ceremony of UEH Vinh Long will officially take place on January 3, 2025 at Hall A, UEH Vinh Long (1B Nguyen Trung Truc, Ward 8, Vinh Long). The outstanding results of Vinh Long Campus in the past 5 years are a clear demonstration of the right strategy for expanding the university and the role of UEH in strategic development areas of Vietnam. This is also the practical basis for the continued establishment of the UEH Branch in Nha Trang Khanh Hoa according to the policy decision of the Ministry of Education and Training with the goal of becoming a place for international convergence and connection of UEH in Vietnam.

9. Investing resources, diversifying supporting activities, and for learners

As the center of the development strategy - learners at UEH - are always cared for and given the best conditions in all aspects, from studying and living, to mental health and integration support. In 2024, UEH awards 70 billion VND in scholarships for undergraduate students in various forms, including nearly 200 international student exchange scholarships at leading universities in Asia and Europe. In particular, UEH has implemented support programs for students in the Northern provinces affected by storm No. 3 (YAGI) in 2024 to share and accompany the difficulties of learners affected by the storm and flood situation after the storm. In addition, UEH applies technology, improves the management system, takes care of partners, and multi-channel learners (CRM), by implementing various forms of receiving and resolving requests from customers to improve the quality of support services. Along with that is the effort to create a modern learning environment, replicate the UEH English zone model and sports and art activities such as organizing the Student Football Tournament - UEH League for the first time, School Drama Stage, international concerts, acoustic shows, art performances, international exchange activities, soft skills, etc. to promote the comprehensive development of learners to become global citizens along with the sustainable development of the University.

10. Achievements in student activities

In 2024, UEH students obtained many proud achievements with 11 topics winning the Science and Technology Award for students in higher education institutions in 2024 of the Ministry of Education and Training (02 Second prizes, 04 Third prizes, 05 Consolation prizes); 04 topics winning consolation prizes in the 2024 Eureka Student Scientific Research Award of the City Youth Union; 1 First prize, 4 Second prizes, 7 Third prizes and 12 Encouragement prizes at the National Student Science Competition "Econometrics and Applications Olympiad" in 2024; attended and had research winning the "Best Paper Award" in the 10 Best Reports at the International Conference on university students research in the field of Economics and Business (SR-ICYREB 2024); winning the Southeast Asia championship - CFA Institute Research Challenge 2023 - 2024; along with a Certificate of Merit from the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Student Association for outstanding achievements in the association's work and student movements in the 2023 - 2024 academic year, a Certificate of Merit from the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Student Association for outstanding achievements in the "Green Summer" Volunteer Campaign in 2024.
