4th ASEAN+ Summer Camp 2026: A Journey of Learning, Discovery, and Connection for UEH Students in Malaysia

College of Business UEH is honored to be one of the co-founders of the ASEAN+ Summer Camp, together with partner universities in the region, including Universiti Malaya (Malaysia), Universitas Padjadjaran (Indonesia), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (Thailand), and the University of the Philippines (Philippines). Through four editions, the program has continued to serve as a platform connecting ASEAN students, enabling them to learn, exchange perspectives, and explore shared challenges facing the region.

Through academic sessions, expert talks, and group discussions, students explored key issues shaping the future of the regional economy, including green transformation, digital transformation and AI, data centers, sustainable development, and resource allocation in emerging economies.

Beyond gaining academic knowledge, students were encouraged to take an active role in exploring solutions to regional challenges. As part of the group project, each team represented an ASEAN country and selected one of the key topics to investigate, analyzing its economic, social, and environmental challenges before developing proposed solutions. Working with students from different countries under the guidance of faculty members allowed participants to strengthen their critical thinking, problem-solving, presentation, and teamwork skills in a multicultural environment.

Academic learning was further connected with real-world practices through an industry visit to Proton, Malaysia’s national automotive brand. The experience provided students with insights into the automotive industry, the development of electric vehicles, and the transition toward cleaner production and consumption across ASEAN.

Alongside academic activities, ASEAN+ Summer Camp 2026 offered students opportunities to explore Malaysia’s culture, history, and local life. Experiences at Pasar Seni, Petaling Street, Bandar Hilir, and Jonker Walk, together with visits to cultural and community sites, enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of Malaysia as a multicultural society where diverse cultural influences come together to shape the country’s unique identity.

Hands-on experiences involving local products, traditional practices, and community-based agriculture and tourism also extended learning beyond the classroom. More importantly, exploring a new country alongside friends from different cultural backgrounds encouraged students to listen to diverse perspectives, appreciate differences, and actively build meaningful connections.

The journey concluded with the Closing Ceremony and Cultural Night, where students from participating countries shared performances representing their respective cultures, exchanged gifts, and created lasting memories after a week of learning and shared experiences.

ASEAN+ Summer Camp 2026 provided students not only with new knowledge of innovation, sustainability, AI, and the future of the ASEAN economy, but also with opportunities to apply their learning to real-world challenges while developing communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills in an international environment.

For UEH, co-founding and actively participating in the ASEAN+ Summer Camp reflects the University’s continued efforts to expand its ecosystem of international experiences for students. Through cross-border learning opportunities, UEH seeks not only to connect students with new knowledge and perspectives, but also to enable them to learn alongside international peers, experience different cultures, and engage directly with universities, businesses, and communities across the region.

From discussions on the future of ASEAN to cultural experiences and friendships formed throughout the journey, ASEAN+ Summer Camp 2026 provided students with a broader space to learn, connect, and grow. More than an international learning program, it was a journey that encouraged young people across ASEAN to better understand one another, reflect together on shared challenges, and foster a spirit of collaboration toward a more sustainable and resilient region in the future.
