ACBES 2021 - The International Scientific Conference to discuss global economic issues from the perspective of experts

Following the success of the ACBES 2018 and ACBES 2019, to provide an opportunity for researchers to present, discuss ideas and scientific research, as well as policy suggestions for the business sector, the 3rd Asia Conference on Business and Economic Studies (ACBES 2021) will take place on August 27–28, 2021. ACBES Conference 2021 is co-organized by the Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies and Lincoln University (New Zealand); with the cooperation from Taylor's University (Malaysia), Emerging Markets Society (USA) and Center for Industrial Revolution and Innovation (CIRI); funded by the Ministry of Education and Training, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, International School of Business, and Branch of French-Vietnamese Management Training Center (Centre Franco-Vietnamien de formation à la Gestion – CFVG) in Ho Chi Minh City.

After more than 9 months of calling for articles, ACBES 2021 received 226 articles from authors from 35 countries worldwide; through a rigorous review process, the Organizing Committee has selected 118 qualified articles, divided into 32 topics to be presented at the Conference. In addition, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, from the planned combination of online and offline, the Conference Organizing Committee has determined and made efforts to change the organization form to 100% online (See detailed program). This is not only suitable for the digital transformation context but also help many scientists not only in the country, in the region but all over the world to participate. Up to now, the preparations for ACBES 2021 have been completed. Therefore, it is ready to welcome scientists, researchers, and the academic community from all over the world to attend ACBES to present, discuss and exchange research experiences.

Notably, ACBES 2021 was honored to invite four Keynote Speakers who are scientists with a leading academic reputation globally. The speakers will present key economic issues such as corporate finance, neuroeconomics, circular economy, foreign direct investment. As follow:

Professor Bart Lambrecht (University of Cambridge Judge Business School); Director of the Cambridge Center for Finance (CCFin); Director of the Cambridge Endowment for Research in Finance (CERF); Former Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Corporate Finance; Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Banking and Finance; Member of Editorial Board of Journal of Business

Presentation topic: "Dynamics of financial policies and group decisions in private enterprise"

In the presentation, Professor Bart Lambrecht will focus his analysis on the model of a private company established and operated by a group of investors with heterogeneous capital and risk tolerance; thereby suggesting optimal investment policies, using optimal leverage in addition to financial policies to address different needs of investors.

Professor Carlos Alós-Ferrer (NOMIS professorships at University of Zurich - Switzerland; Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Economic Psychology).

Presentation topic: "Random Selection: Psychological Background and Economic Consequences"

Professor Carlos Alós-Ferrer presented the theoretical foundations of the field of psychology in the problem of random selection; introduces recent novelties in the subject of neuroeconomics and behavioral economics. Besides, Professor Carlos Alós-Ferrer also highlighted the results of research on how to use response time to clarify preferences and how to understand classical anti-choice options in risky decisions.

Professor Les Oxley (Professor of Economics, University of Waikato - New Zealand; Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Economic Surveys; Co-Director of Responsible and Sustainability Management Unit – New Zealand Institute for Business Research).

Presentation topic: "Amiomio Āotearoa: Stable Economy for New Zealand's Well-Being Life"

Professor Les Oxley presented research on the Āmiomio Aotearoa project (a multi-disciplinary, multi-partnership research project), which puts the circular economy in the New Zealand context (sustainable, low-emissions and climate-resilient) by providing a theoretical model linking circular economy concepts with concepts of sustainable development and interdisciplinary measures of well-being; thereby, supplementing the missing theoretical link between circular economy and sustainable development to provide evidence and support New Zealand's social engineering transition to a circular economy.

Professor Ilan Alon (University of Agder - Norway. Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Emerging Markets).

Presentation topic: "Globalization of Chinese capital: Theory, Practice and Policy"

Professor Ilan Alon examined the development of China's outward direct investment capital in the context that in recent years, China's capital flows are increasing and challenging the capital flows of the US and Western countries, especially when the “Belt and Road” Initiative was born based on a data and trends approach.

In addition, to start the ACBES Conference 2021, on August 26, 2021, the Conference Organizing Committee organized two more special Workshop Training sessions on two topics "Quantitative Scientific Research and Research Evaluation" and “Aspects of Causal Inference” presented by Professor Wolfgang Glänzel (Editor-in-Chief of Scientometrics, Germany) and Professor Scott Cunningham (Editor-in-Chief of Technological Forecasting and Social Changes, USA) respectively.
