An activity series to welcome the new journey of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City - A Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University

The date October 4, 2023 opened a new historical milestone for the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) to be one of the seven higher education institutions in Vietnam to operate under the model of a "Multidisciplinary University". UEH officially began a new journey with a new mission of joining hands with the community and the world, solving common social and global problems towards a beautiful and sustainable future. Welcoming this new journey - the series of "University Day" activities for the UEHer community had officially begun!

A new journey creating a new future - “FUTURE GENERATIONS”

After 47 years of development, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has successfully completed the important/strategic mission assigned by the Party, Government and previous generations, which is “to become a key national, large-scale public university with of high-quality training and scientific research in economics and management in Vietnam”. Moreover, with the tireless efforts of many generations, UEH has always been a pioneering and innovative educational institution in three fields: Education, Research and Social - Community Responsibility. UEH is proud to have an important position on Vietnam’s higher education system and has gradually affirmed its academic reputation in the world with prestigious rankings: the first and only economics university in Vietnam ranked in the top 401+ QS Asia University Rankings 2023; among the Top 1 Best Universities in Vietnam and Top 66 Leading Universities in Asia according to the 2022 U-Multirank Ranking; Top 8 Best Universities in Vietnam, leading Economics, Management, Business and Law schools for 4 consecutive years according to the 2022 Webometrics Ranking; Top 298 Best Universities in Asia as announced by SCImago 2022; leading 9 Universities in Vietnam, honored to be in the Top 301-400 leading Universities in the world contributing to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations according to THE Impact Rankings 2023, etc.

Following that development, UEH aims at the better by cultivating positive values based on its inherent knowledge base. UEH carries responsibility for itself to become a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University, globally integrated, responsible to the community, the country, the world’s common problems, and most of all, responsibilities to a new generation, the future generation.

As the heart of a University, current and future UEH students not only reflect social diversity but also develop academic and professional skills along with environmental and ethical awareness and social responsibility. The future generation of UEH will join hands with the community and the world, solving common social and global problems towards a beautiful and sustainable future. The mission of the past has created a UEH that is always steadfast and confident in moving forward, and UEH today is the one cultivating knowledge and spreading inspiration to gradually complete the next mission.

The series of "University Day": Welcome the new journey of a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable UEH University

Ready for a new journey - UEH's "University Day" series taking place from November 6 - 18, 2023 will be a series of meaningful events for all students, officials, and partners of UEH with creative and groundbreaking ideas, uniting generations towards the common goal of "Developing the Multidisciplinary and Sustainable UEH University".

A variety of activities will take place within the framework of the event including:

ArtCamp exhibition and Mindmap model from November 6 - 18, 2023

In order to spread the message "Sustainable Lifestyle In Community", excellent images of the ArtCamp 2022 competition will be displayed at the UEH exhibition. Each work aims at meaningful values: Smart life and modern society; Sustainable lifestyle seeking to protect the environment, civilized society, prosperous community, and economic development; Humans as the center of digital life; Global citizen - sustainable action - community benefits; Leading change and inspiring the arts; From a circular campus to a green university, thereby, it contributes to spreading a sustainable lifestyle in the community, especially future generations of UEH.

At the same time, the UEH Multidisciplinary and Sustainable mindmap model jointly implemented by UEH teachers and students in the UEH Day 2022 is displayed oficially in this event, demonstrating the vision and determination to prepare for the future journey.

Multidisciplinary and Sustainable UEH mindmap competition for students

In order to convey the messages and strategies of the Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University to generations of UEH students so that they can understand and act with the school, the mindmap contest "UEH Multidisciplinary and Sustainable" will be held from November 2-9, 2023 with the topics given by the UEH Organizing Committee. Each team will think together, discuss and present meaningful, creative and practical solutions on a mind map. Each product of the competition teams will be ideas and initiatives that contribute to the University's development strategy in the upcoming period and will be exhibited within the framework of the "University Day" on 18th November 2023.

"Ensemble performance of the song Pride of UEH" Project

Demonstrating the youth, enthusiasm, calling and pride of UEH towards an event marking an important milestone on the journey to affirm the brand of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, the project "UEH Pride Song Ensemble" carried out by more than 1,000 students will officially launch on November 18, 2023.

"Letter to Future Generations" campaign from November 13 - 18, 2023

Believing that every UEHer individual who has accompanied UEH during the past time feels proud and wishes to join in the joy of the achievements and new journey of UEH University, the "Letter to Future Generations" campaign was launched to be a place for everyone to send good wishes, express their wishes and affirm their faith to move forward.

More than 4,700 individual wishes and images sent to the UEH Chatbox tool will be the pieces to create a meaningful "I LOVE UEH" image, engraving the special mark of 47-year-old UEH.

Union activities for UEH officials and former employees

To be a pioneer in the Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University journey requires the consensus and commitment of all UEH officials and employees and the support of generations of former officials for the strategy of the University. Therefore, meaningful Union activities will be implemented throughout the upcoming time, including the English Karaoke program for officials (November 10, 2023) and the Meeting of Retired Officials (November 16, 2023).

Ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's Decision to transform the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City

On November 18, 2023, Announcement Ceremony of the Prime Minister's Decision to transform the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City will officially take place live at Hall A.116 and online on technology platforms, marking a very important milestone in nearly 50 years of establishment and development of UEH.

This is the most important activity within the framework of the "University Day" series for all UEH officials, learners, and partners, with the participation of the Government leaders, and Ministries, Departments, etc. to together witness the important moments of UEH's transformation and affirm a UEH University with historical traditions, solidarity, humanity, gratitude, dynamism, creativity, pioneering innovation, proactive integration, approaching world trends, and developing from its internal forces to become a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University, with a reputation in Asia and the world, at the same time, honoring and praising the generations of UEH Teachers who have been contributing, making efforts and dedication to preserving and developing the image, reputation and academic prestige of UEH, laying an important foundation for new developments of UEH in the near future.

With a new position and stature, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City on its new journey needs the understanding, solidarity and companionship of all officials, employees, learners, students, alumni and partners. And the "University Day" series will be the opening event for this important journey. A spirit of "Pioneering innovation - Connecting generations - Spreading passion" will continue to be fostered and spread strongly in each UEHer to build the pillar of "durable trust" on the journey of a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University.
