An impressive concert program titled "An Evening of Classical Serenity" by the New York Classical Music Association at UEH

On the evenings of December 14 and 15, 2023, the international concert program with the theme An Evening of Classical Serenity of the New York Classical Music Society took place extremely successfully at University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). Not only creating a unique art space, this is also a cultural event of international solidarity, aiming to celebrate 31 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea (December 22, 1992 – December 22, 2023).

On the development journey of nearly 50 years, with the position of a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University in Vietnam, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) aims not only to train the foundation of professional knowledge and understanding know life for future generations but also to pioneer in building A community of people who inspire art and lead change for sustainable development. With this approach, in the recent time, UEH together with domestic and foreign partners has organized many meaningful art activities for learners, officials and partners. The classical concert program with the theme An Evening of Classical Serenity taking place on December 14 and 15 is one of the typical examples, attracting the participation of more than 2,000 audiences including lecturers, students, alumni, partners of UEH and Korean people living and working in Vietnam.

The program was honored to have the participation of: Mr. Shin ChoongIl - Consulate General of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Park Young June - Former Deputy Minister of Economy and Knowledge of Korea, Advisor to the New York - Asia Classical Music Association, Honorary Principal of School of Technology and Design, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH); Mr. Hahn Choong Hee - Former Korean Ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Former Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Chairman of the National Assembly, Director of ECC; Mr. Hwang Young ha - Director of Diplomacy and Trade; Mr. Park Nam Jong - Chairman of the Council Association in Vietnam; Mr. Lee Hye Gyeong - Senior Vice President of the Advisory Council for Peace, Democracy and Unification; Mr. Yoo Sun Hyeong - Vice President of the Korea Association of Commerce and Industry; Ms. Lee Won Ja - President of the Korean Women’ Association in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Yang Cheol Su - Chairman of the Korean Association in Vung Tau City; Mr. Shon Young Il - Honorary Chairman of the Korean Trade and Industry Association in Central and South Vietnam; Mr. Kim Kyoo Chul, Chairman of National Housing Organization (N.H.O); Mr. Jeong Choel, General Director of National Housing Organization (N.H.O); Mr. Thai Hien Luong - Former Director of Administration Department II - Government Office (Southern Region), Honorary Chairman of Vietnam Korea Economic and Cultural Industry Association; Associate Professor, PhD. Nguyen Lan Trung - Chairman of the Vietnam Linguistics Association - Vice Chairman of the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese; Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy - Chairman of the Vietnam - Korea Economic and Cultural Industry Association, Chairman of the Vietnam-Korea Cooperation Forum.

The program also had the participation of Mr. Tran Ngoc Tam - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of People’s Committee at Ben Tre Provincial; Mr. Nguyen Minh Dung - Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of People’s Council at Vinh Long Provincial.

Speaking at the opening of the program, Prof.Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - Director of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) - sent his sincere thanks to the New York Classical Music Association and Korean partners for coordinating with UEH to organize a meaningful and unique art program. Besides, he emphasized: At UEH, we believe that, in any era, people are always the most important factor in all development. Our future society does not rely entirely on the development of technology but also must be based on harmony, interference and unity between humans, machines and nature. This poses a requirement for future generations of young people to not only master professional knowledge but also to grasp and master technology, use technology as a driving force for development, and at the same time, use art to nurture children. Nurture spiritual values ​​so that we can work towards sustainable development. Nurturing spiritual strength, with efforts to develop and improve, the UEH Community will be a pioneering community for sustainable development.

On behalf of the New York Classical Music Association, Dr. Park Young June - Former Deputy Minister of Economy and Knowledge of Korea, Honorary Principal of UEH School of Technology and Design - shared: We are totally grateful to University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) for their support and coordination in organizing the classical concert program An Evening of Classical Serenity. Through this program, we do hope to bring a unique artistic space to all audiences; at the same time, aiming to celebrate the 31st anniversary of Vietnam - Korea diplomatic relations. I also wish University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City to develop further towards training good students for the country and the world.

What is more special, within the framework of the program, the New York Classical Music Association awarded a scholarship of 100 million VND for UEH students. This scholarship is contributed by Korean businesses in Vietnam and in Korea as a meaningful gift, joining hands with UEH to encourage students to make efforts and to strive to excel in their studies.

With performances from talented artists of the New York Classical Music Association, the program successfully brought a space of connection between emotions and people using classical music. These are melodious, poignant, and majestic symphonic melodies with world classics listed as: W.A Mozart - Divertimento KV 136; J.N Hummel - Fantasia for Viola and String Orchestra Op. ninety four; Nessun Dorma - Turandot; Largo al Factotum - Il barbiere di Siviglia; P.A Genin - Carnival de Venice; A.Vivaldi - Four Seasons; La Donna E Mobille-Rigoletto; Mozart Piano Concerto K 415; Katchaturian Masquerade Suite Waltz and so on to cheerful melodies to welcome Christmas and New Year.

The concert “An Evening of Classical Serenity” brought completely new musical experiences to the audience, especially UEH students. Not only is it a cultural exchange activity between Vietnam and Korea but it also fuels artistic passion, nurtures spiritual values, evoking creative inspiration and leading to a more balanced life.

* New York Classical Music Society (NYCMS): Founded in 2004 by world-renowned pianist, educator and organizer - Lynn Czae. NYCMS is one of the world's leading nonprofit organizations. This place brings together outstanding artists from around the world in many fields listed as piano, string and wind instruments, conductors, composers and chamber music singers. Every year, the Association will organize events and festivals around the world: New York, London, Seoul, Paris, Edinburgh, Venice, Milano, Genoa, Kyiv, Bern, Geneva, Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Vietnam and so on.
