Business visit activities - a bridge between theory and practice

26 Sep, 2023

Visiting businesses is one of the activities that the University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City (UEH)is interested in and regularly carries out. This is considered an effective form of connection between businesses and students. Through the trip, UEH students will have the opportunity to approach reality, the working environment, space and corporate culture. Moreover, students themselves gradually form their career orientations more clearly.

Organizing field trips at businesses can be considered an effective bridge, in which businesses and schools meet and develop relationships to achieve the common goal of creating conditions for students to gain practical knowledge and skills - an important foundation for future career development.

In 2023, this activity continues to be focused and improved in both quality and quantity. In August, UEH actively connected with C.P. Vietnam, EY, Unilever, FPT IS, Lazada, Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB), Lineage Logistics for approximately 600 students to help them have a closer look at the future working environment.

During the visit, students have the opportunity to listen and to be shared the necessary skills for candidates in new conditions; job positions and departmental organization models at the company; career opportunities; work experience; recruitment criteria that businesses need from candidates; sharing from CEOs, CFOs and business leaders about the working process. In addition, students have the opportunity to visit work and entertainment areas to understand more about corporate culture and to observe the layout and professional working space. Thereby, students understand the personnel selection criteria of businesses to partly self-assess their own abilities and proactively improve their ability to meet working requirements in a modern environment.

These visits not only help students improve their knowledge and skills but also, most importantly, form a serious and professional attitude in study and work to meet the requirements of the domestic and regional labor markets. UEH students can improve their confidence when speaking and asking questions to business colleagues who act as future employers as well as their presentation skills in front of the crowd.

The experiential visit that businesses coordinated with UEH once again demonstrated the proactive spirit of UEH students. From asking questions and discussing issues related to the career to training and the working environment, it partly shows the bravery of young students who are thinking and oriented towards the future. Surely after this tour, the students will have new perspectives and motivation for their development as well as orientations for their field of study, and set goals for themselves regarding the future working environment.

In the upcoming time, UEH will continue the program for UEH Junior Students to practically visit businesses with diverse fields listed as supply chain, fast-moving consumer goods, retail, manufacturing, investment funds, accounting, auditing, finance, banking, and technology.
