Conference of Leadership of the Department of Education and Training and High Schools in the Mekong Delta Provinces, Phase 2/2024

On November 29 and 30, 2024, the "Conference of Leadership of the Department of Education and Training and High Schools in the Mekong Delta Region (Phase 2/2024)" took place at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City in Vinh Long (UEH Vinh Long). This was one of the important and meaningful events towards the 5th anniversary of the establishment of UEH Vinh Long "For a sustainable Mekong".

"Conference of Leadership of the Department of Education and Training and High Schools in the Mekong Delta Region - Phase 2/2024" was organized by UEH in coordination with the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Long Province. The conference attracted the participation of nearly 248 delegates, including leaders of the Department of Education and Training, Principals, Vice Principals, and Secretaries of the Youth Union, and Admissions Officers of 145 high schools in 13 Provinces of the Mekong Delta.

Especially the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh - Director of the Department of Secondary Education, Ministry of Education and Training; Ms. Truong Thanh Nhuan - Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Long Province; Mr. Tran Quang Bao - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Kien Giang Province; Ms. Nguyen Hoai Thuy Hang - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Hau Giang Province; Mr. Nguyen Ba Long - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Bac Lieu Province; Mr. Thanh Bach Hai - Head of the Department of Secondary and Continuing Education, Department of Education and Training of Dong Thap Province; Mr. Vo Van Huynh - Deputy Head of the Department of Secondary and Continuing Education, Department of Education and Training of Ben Tre Province; Mr. Huynh Thanh Loc - Deputy Head of the Department of Secondary and Continuing Education - Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City; together with the teachers and leaders of the units from the main campus: Department of Training, Department of Communication and Partnership, International School of Business (ISB), Institute of Intelligent and Interactive Technology (3I), Institute of Innovation (UII) and UEH Vinh Long.

Remarking at the conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of UEH and Director of UEH Vinh Long Campus - shared: “UEH Vinh Long has a journey of construction and development for nearly 5 years (December 4, 2019 - December 4, 2024) with outstanding contributions in training high-quality human resources for the Mekong Delta, connecting the community, making efforts in research, consulting, and developing the region. This achievement, in addition to UEH’s efforts, also comes from the companionship of the education sector of 13 provinces in the Mekong Delta region. With the spirit of a national key public university, with responsibility in the Mekong Delta region, UEH always wishes to connect more comprehensively and synchronously with the education and training of 13 provinces in the region. Therefore, the "Conference of Leadership of the Department of Education and Training and High Schools in the Mekong Delta Region" organized anually by UEH is an meaningful activity to update important contents in education and training, connecting the education sector in the Mekong Delta. We expect that this 2nd Conference in 2024 will continue to bring practical values to join hands with teachers in the Mekong Delta to build a sustainable education for a sustainable Mekong."

The conference is a forum to discuss career guidance for high school students; deploy orientations for high school graduation exams in 2025; foster skills for staff and teachers implementing the UEH Global project in 2025; as well as training programs on necessary skills to improve the capacity of administration, management and effective organization of task implementation for members of the Board of Management and admissions officers, and teachers of high schools.

On November 29, with the theme "Connecting education for a sustainable Mekong", the Conference brought important content including:

- Summarizing career orientation in 2024 and sharing coordination experiences between UEH and high schools;

- Implementing the UEH Global 2025 project, marking a new step in international cooperation and sustainable development in the Mekong Delta region;

- Deploying the UEH-ISB curriculum for high school students in the Mekong Delta region;

- Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between UEH and Department of Education and Training of Provinces in the Mekong Delta region, affirming long-term commitment to accompanying in education;

- The training workshop on “Happy Teachers - Happy Schools” provides knowledge on building a positive school environment, helping teachers and administrators create a happy and sustainable education, presented by Associate Professor, Dr. Do Tat Thien - Deputy Head of the Department of Psychology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.

On November 30, with the theme "Innovation and comprehensive education", important contents discussed include:

- Training course "Guidelines for reviewing for graduation in 2025, General Education Program in 2018";

- Implementing the orientations and policies of the Ministry of Education and Training on Entrepreneurship - Innovation for high school students;

- Training on "Guiding students to build and develop startup ideas".

"The Conference of Leadership of the Department of Education and Training and High Schools in the Mekong Delta Region - Phase 2/2024" has officially ended with meaningful marks, continuing to affirm UEH's position in the journey of building a sustainable education for the development of the Mekong Delta region. The event is not only a bridge between UEH and high schools in the Mekong Delta region but also a proof of UEH's attempts to improve the quality of education, supporting career orientation for students, accompanying the teaching staff in meeting the requirements of modern education and building a close relationship with high schools in the Mekong Delta on the journey of Connecting the community - Spreading knowledge - Sustainable action.
