Conference of UEH Officials and Employees 2024 and Additional Election of Members of the University Council for the Term 2020 - 2025

On the morning of January 7, 2025, at Hall A.116, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) solemnly organized the Conference of Officials and Employees 2024 and additional election of members of the University Council for the term 2020 - 2025.

Attending the program were Mr. Pham Van Dung - Senior Specialist of the Party Committee Office, Ministry of Education and Training; Mr. Vu Dang Thanh - Senior Specialist of the Department of Organization and Personnel - Ministry of Education and Training.

On behalf of UEH leaders, there were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the University Council; Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of UEH; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of UEH; Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice President of UEH; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of the Strategy and Policy Advisory Council; Dr. Nguyen Thien Duy - Chairwoman of the UEH Union; and the participation of 470 delegates, including ex-officio delegates, delegates elected at conferences of officials and employees of units under UEH.

Overview of the conference

Implementing Resolution No. 47/NQ-DHKT-HDĐH of the University Council on the policy of electing 01 additional member outside of UEH to the University Council for the term 2020 - 2025

With a serious and responsible spirit, the officials and the employees attending the conference conducted the election of additional members of the University Council for the term 2020 - 2025 of UEH. After the election conference is completed, the results will be submitted to the Minister of Education and Training for consideration and decision to recognize new members of the UEH University Council.

Additionally, within the framework of the conference, all delegates, officials and employees evaluated the results achieved in 2024 and discussed the key tasks and strategic orientations of UEH in 2025.

In 2024, UEH achieved many impressive results, continuing to affirm their endless efforts to become a university with a prestigious academic reputation in the region and the world. Over the past year, UEH has built 05 pillars, with 131 OKRs on Training, Scientific Research, Community Connection, Administration, and Operation with many outstanding achievements:

• Admission met the plan with admitted scores and the rate of excellent students increasing. This demonstrates the increasing prestige and position of UEH towards learners and society.
• UEH's faculty has published more than 550 articles in international journals in ISI/Scopus, many works with high IF index in the fields of economics, administration, technology and sustainable development.
• Expanding cooperation with more than 100 universities and international organizations, successfully implemented interdisciplinary research projects and meaningful academic exchange programs.
• Continuing to rise in regional and international rankings, including significant progress in THE 2025 rankings with a world ranking of 500-600, QS sustainability 2025 with a world ranking of 650.

“Based on the achievements of the past year, the key tasks that units need to focus on implementing in 2025 include: (1) Admissions and training activities; (2) Quality assessment; (3) Scientific research and innovation; (4) International cooperation; and 5) University governance. 2025 is an important milestone for the 2026-2030 term, each member of UEH must unite to build a multidisciplinary and sustainable university. With the spirit of innovation and integration, UEH will continue to affirm their pioneering position in innovation of Vietnamese higher education, maintaining their ranking on prestigious rankings in the region and the world. UEH always appreciates the efforts and contributions of each UEHer member, which is an important foundation for the sustainable development of UEH University in the future” remarked Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh.

The conference was a great success with the high determination of all delegates, approving and unanimously passing the contents of the draft Resolution of the Conference of Officials and Employees in 2025.

Summarizing the conference, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of the University Council - expressed his joy at the tasks that UEH has successfully completed in university restructuring, training, scientific research, consulting, administration and expressed gratitude for the efforts of all UEHers in 2024. Remarking on UEH's strategic orientation in 2025, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong emphasized: "UEH's goal by 2030 is to become a multidisciplinary university in the Top 250 of leading higher education institutions in Asia, especially in the fields of business, management, technology and design, and to increase UEH's presence and contribution in Vietnam and the Asian region. To achieve the above goal, UEH is determined to implement strategic orientations from the first year of the 5-year strategy. During the implementation, it requires great effort and consensus of the UEHer team, solidarity and unity to ensure the concentration of the team strength to achieve the set goals. 2025 is the year of the Party Congress of the university, the year of establishing the new University Council of the new term. I believe that UEH will obtain better achievements, actively contributing to the socio-economic development of Vietnam, increasingly firmly on the path of internationalization and contributing more to human knowledge".

With the role and position of a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University, the collective University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City will work together, unanimously, and strive to carry out the set tasks towards the 50th anniversary of UEH's establishment and becoming "Top 250 leading universities in Asia by 2030".
