On December 12, 2024, at University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), the conference "Announcing the Results of Component Projects No. 1, 3, 5, 8 of the Overall Project on Training International-Level Human Resources (08 Majors) and Sharing University" organized by UEH in coordination with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Education and Training took place successfully.
Implementing the Resolution of the 11th Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress, 2020 – 2025 term, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Education and Training to organize a Conference to announce the research results of Component Projects No. 1, 3, 5, 8 of the Overall Project on training international-level human resources (08 majors), Sharing University, and memorandum of understanding on training cooperation between higher education institutions and businesses and employers.
Attending the Conference, on behalf of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Departments, Divisions, and Services, there were Mr. Phan Van Mai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu - Director of the Department of Education and Training; Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung - Director of the Department of Science and Technology.
On behalf of the educational units assigned to pilot the Project, there were the participation of: Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Director of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City; Associate Professor, Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - Director of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City; Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Deputy Director of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Tam - Deputy Director of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City; Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Thanh Phong - Rector of University of Technology, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City; Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan - Rector of University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City; Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Le Quan - Rector of University of Natural Sciences - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
Along with that was the presence of leaders of Departments, Divisions, and Services of the City; Rectors of members of the Council of Rectors of Universities in the City; Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association; Leaders of enterprises and employers; Representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Education Association; Heads of the Department of Education and Training of Districts, and Thu Duc City; Principals of high schools; Directors of continuing education centers, vocational education - continuing education centers.
Overview of the conference
The conference announced the project results and deployed them towards higher education institutions on 4 programs in the project, including as follows:
Component project 1 - Training international-level human resources in the field of Information Technology - Communications, managed by the University of Technology (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City).
Component project 3 - Training international-level human resources in Artificial Intelligence, managed by the University of Science (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City).
Component project 5 - Training international-level human resources in Finance - Banking, managed by University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City.
Component Project 8 - Training international-level human resources in Urban Management, managed by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City).
Representing the university assigned to pilot the training, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of UEH - emphasized:
“The decision of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to develop and to implement the Overall Plan for training international-level human resources is a correct decision and being consistent with the development trend of the country in the context of deep international integration. The project has created a strong driving force for educational institutions to develop training programs, to innovate methods, to improve the quality of teaching and learning, and to meet the increasing demand for international-level human resources in the labor market.
During the process of developing and implementing the Project, UEH has focused on building a high-quality training program, closely following international standards, closely combining theory and practice, and with the characteristics and requirements of future human resources in Finance - Banking. In addition, UEH has invested heavily in improving the quality of our teaching staff, especially coordinating with foreign lecturers from prestigious universities for extensive association.
Being the host of Project Component 5, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is proud to contribute to this common cause. Our long tradition and achievements listed as the Top 501-600 world universities in 2025 by Times Higher Education (THE), 38th place in the world in Finance, and Top 201-300 in Economics according to ShanghaiRanking 2024 and more clearly demonstrate of UEH's high-quality training capacity and ensure the successful implementation of this project.

Within the framework of the conference, there was a signing ceremony for the handover of the right to use the results of scientific and technological tasks between the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Education and Training; a signing ceremony between the Department of Education and Training and training institutions; a signing ceremony for training cooperation between enterprises, employers and higher education institutions. In particular, UEH has signed a cooperation agreement on training international-level human resources in Finance - Banking with Ben Thanh Corporation, Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank (OCB) and Ho Chi Minh City Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank (HDBank).

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Phan Van Mai requested that these universities be assigned to pilot training in a timely manner in accordance with the plan issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. There is a plan to organize a preliminary and final review of the results of the pilot training, and coordinate with departments and divisions to advise the City People's Committee to submit to the City People's Council to issue mechanisms and training funding norms after the pilot phase.
“I expect that with leading training facilities of higher education, and with the support and coordination of businesses and employers, the Project will contribute to training human resources with international qualifications, developing a high-quality workforce for Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces. This pilot training will be the basis for building the city's mechanisms and policies in implementing training according to the Project in the next phase. " - Mr. Phan Van Mai emphasized.

Proactively training international-level human resources, especially laborers in Finance - Banking, is extremely necessary and has a decisive significance in enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese laborers with foreign workers in the domestic and regional markets; contributing to preparing human resources for the successful construction of Ho Chi Minh City's international financial center; contributing to strengthening the economic growth momentum of Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam.
With the support of leaders at all levels, the support of businesses, and the continuous efforts of all staff, lecturers and students, UEH will continue to actively contribute to the success of the project in particular and the career of training international quality human resources of Ho Chi Minh City in general.
