In the context of international integration, English has emerged as an effective tool for students to approach great academic and professional achievements. However, mastering a new foreign language for communication is difficult because learners must overcome not only knowledge but also psychological and emotional obstacles.
For this reason, the language workshop "Overcome your Fear of Speaking English" is structured with practical advice to make you feel more at ease when speaking the language. As part of the English Zone's series of periodic activities with many practical topics to help the community improve their English skills, language workshop are organized monthly by UEH English Zone and the School of Foreign Languages, helping learners each feel interested in learning English, thereby creating a habit and desire to learn the language.
This language workshop was led by Mr. Le Cao Bach, Founder of IELTS POWER UP and TESOL SIMPLE EDUCATION. With almost ten years of IELTS teaching experience under his belt and an IELTS 8.5 certificate, Mr. Bach shared the proprietary SWITCH method, which enables English language learners to confidently answer any question from the examiner.
English-speaking barriers discussed by teacher Le Cao Bach
It is commonly known that the theory and exercise-based English education that students received in high school limited their opportunities for practice in communication. Consequently, when you attend university, you become proficient in grammar, vocabulary, and foundational knowledge but struggle to squeak out ideas in this language. This lowers confidence when presenting subjects in English and creates challenges when taking foreign language certification exams that measure speaking abilities. Using straightforward questions and sentence structures, the speaker provided specific practice by breaking down the cause into two main factors: language and emotions.
