Mr. Jojo Flores - Co-founder of Plug and Play Tech Center presented the keynote “From Campus to the Global Ecosystem: How Plug and Play Connects Universities, Industry, and the Next Generation of Innovators”
The program continued with the panel discussion “The Next Frontier for Venture Capital and Innovation in Vietnam,” moderated by Mr. Louis Nguyen - Chairman and CEO of Saigon Asset Management (SAM), with the participation of Mr. Jojo Flores, Mr. Mike Maceda, and Mr. Bryan Mok.
During the discussion, representatives from Plug and Play emphasized that AI is becoming the “new normal,” requiring young people and businesses not only to equip themselves with technological skills, but also to develop human-centered capabilities such as communication, leadership thinking, networking, and English proficiency.
For startups, investors highlighted that the key factors they consider are the problems the business is solving, the market size, and the potential to become a leader in its field. Speakers also noted that small and medium-sized enterprises do not necessarily need to become tech startups, but they should leverage AI and digital transformation to optimize operations, save time, and improve efficiency. For university startups, collaboration models between universities and investors were viewed as a promising direction, enabling students to gain early access to professional investment ecosystems.
With Vietnam’s strong technical workforce, growing pool of AI engineers, and increasing interest from international investors, Vietnam is considered one of the region’s most promising markets. At the same time, Vietnamese startups need to choose development paths that balance domestic market opportunities with global expansion strategies.
