The international classical concert "Dream Concert Vietnam 2024" was successfully held at three locations in Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh City, Thu Duc and Nha Trang from December 11 to 14, 2024. With the participation of 21 talented artists from the New York Classical Music Association, the program brought 17 classic works, leaving a deep impression on the audience while contributing to promoting cultural exchange and sustainable development.
On the journey of nearly 50 years of development, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has both focused on the quality of education and pioneered in building a "Community of people who inspire art and lead change for sustainable development". With that orientation, the international classical concert “Dream Concert Vietnam 2024” was organized, marking a new step in connecting Vietnamese and international cultures. The program featured 21 talented artists from the New York Classical Music Association, bringing 17 classical music works. Melodious and profound melodies from pieces listed as Holdberg Suite, Beethoven - Piano Concerto no.3, 3rd movement, The little Drummer Boy, Silent Night, Cavatina and more.
As a familiar destination for classical arts, UEH has become the starting point of the international classical concert "Dream Concert Vietnam 2024", the opening night on December 11 attracted the participation of 1,000 audiences including teachers, students, alumni, UEH partners, Vietnamese and Korean enterprises, sponsoring enterprises and so on. The program was honored to have the participation of Mr. Shin ChoongIl - Consulate General of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Park Young June - Former Deputy Minister of Economy and Knowledge of Korea, Advisor to the New York - Asia Classical Music Association, Honorary Rector of UEH College of Technology and Design; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of the University Council; Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - UEH President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President; Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairman of the Strategy and Policy Advisory Council.
In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City - expressed his sincere thanks to the New York Classical Music Association and Korean partners for collaborating with the University to organize a meaningful and unique art program. In addition, he emphasized: “UEH is proud to be a bridge to bring classical music closer to Vietnamese audiences. This is not only an opportunity for cultural exchange but also proof of UEH's commitment to creating sustainable values through art.”
On behalf of the New York Classical Music Association, Dr. Park Young June - Former Deputy Minister of Knowledge Economy of Korea, Honorary Rector of UEH College of Technology and Design - remarked: “The New York Classical Music Association would like to thank University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City for supporting and coordinating the organization of the classical concert “Dream Concert Vietnam 2024”. Through this program, we hope to bring a unique artistic space to all audiences at 3 locations: UEH campus A, Thu Duc and Nha Trang; concurrently, aiming to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of Vietnam - Korea diplomatic relations. I also wish University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City to develop further, training excellent students for the country and the world”.
In particular, the New York Classical Music Association has awarded a scholarship worth 50 million VND to UEH students, to encourage the spirit of learning and efforts to overcome difficulties. This is a meaningful gift from Korean enterprises in Vietnam, demonstrating the spirit of sustainable cooperation between the two countries.
The music night in Ho Chi Minh City is imbued with traditional colors and 17 classic works, bringing together leading artists to create a profound and emotional concert for the audience.
Following the success of the program on December 11, the music night took place at the Ho Chi Minh City Student Cultural House on December 12, attracting more than 600 students in the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. This is a great opportunity for young people to access top classical music while discovering timeless artistic values.
The performance was attended by Mr. Le Duc Dat - Member of the Executive Committee, Deputy Head of the City Youth Union School, Vice President of the Vietnam Student Association of Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Quach Hai Dat - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Student Cultural House. On behalf of the leaders of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, there were Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of the University; Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of the Strategy and Policy Advisory Council.
Representing UEH, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quang Hung remarked: "Besides being conducted within UEH, the journey of artistic inspiration also hopes to reach further to students in Ho Chi Minh City, especially the Vietnam National University. The classical concert "Dream Concert Vietnam 2024" promises to become an ideal event for young people who love music, especially classical music. I do believe that UEH will always accompany you on the path of learning and cultivating unique cultural and artistic values."
After the resounding success of 2 music nights in Ho Chi Minh City, the program came to Khanh Hoa province for the first time, attracting nearly 1,000 audiences including tourists, students, guests, and people living and working in Nha Trang.
The program had the participation of Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Dinh Van Thieu, Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee; leaders of Khanh Hoa Radio and Television Station; and representatives of Provincial associations and federations. On behalf of the leaders of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, there were: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of the Strategy and Policy Advisory Council.
Opening the program, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong affirmed that the strategic orientation of UEH is to become a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University, both focusing on education and training high-quality human resources and building a community that spreads artistic inspiration and leads change for sustainable development. He emphasized that through activities listed as "Dream Concert Vietnam 2024", UEH is realizing the vision of connecting art with other fields, contributing to creating sustainable cultural and artistic values in the community. In particular, the event held for the first time in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa is not only an opportunity to spread art but also affirms UEH's role in connecting with global partners and promoting local cultural development.
Mr. Dinh Van Thieu, sharing at the event, expressed his deep gratitude to Dr. Park Young June and artists from the New York - Asia Classical Music Association and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City for choosing Khanh Hoa as one of the stops for this classy art space. Similar to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong, he believes that activities like “Dream Concert Vietnam” play an important role in promoting the beauty of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa to international friends, contributing to building the image of the Province to become an attractive cultural and artistic destination.
It can be stated that the 3 music nights took place successfully at different locations. Dream Concert Vietnam 2024 is a living testament to the connecting power of music - where art blends with culture, bringing a sustainable and inspiring future. It is expected that the artists will continue to bring outstanding performances to other Cities and Provinces across Vietnam as a promise of a community that understands art and aims for sustainable values./.
