Enhancing Awareness and Care for Mental Health – A Journey to Foster Balance and Happiness within the UEHer Community

10 Nov, 2025

In line with its strategy to develop a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is dedicated to building a happy UEHer community. To achieve this goal, UEH places special emphasis on mental health care, a key factor in helping each individual achieve balance and work effectively through a humane, happy learning environment that is attentive to learners' emotions.

Recognizing this importance, the Department of Student Affairs (DSA) organized the Seminar on "Enhancing Awareness and Care for Mental Health." The event aimed to help UEHers improve their ability to recognize early signs of stress, understand the factors affecting their psychological state, and learn how to cultivate balance in their studies and personal lives.

Over 500 learners and staff attended, spreading the spirit of "Know Yourself – Live Happily"

In a high-pressure academic and work environment, mental health care is not just about identifying signs of psychological distress; it is an essential life skill that helps every UEHer maintain balance, creativity, and sustainable development.

Dr. Pham Minh Triet speaking at the event

Through a presentation by Dr. Pham Minh Triet, learners gained knowledge on identifying symptoms of psychological disorders and risk factors across different age groups, while also being provided with tools and methods for proactive self-care.

The real-life examples and case studies analyzed during the seminar fostered deep empathy, helping attendees understand that: "Caring for one's mental health is not a sign of weakness, but an act of courage and maturity.”

The atmosphere became emotional as Dr. Triet discussed the pressures of academic and daily life

The seminar's atmosphere grew more vibrant and sincere during the interactive Q&A session, where students bravely shared their genuine concerns about life and their studies. Many questions revolved around academic pressure and family expectations, how to manage emotions during stressful times, and even how to navigate negative thoughts, feelings of being stuck, and behavioral responses.

UEH learners actively engaging with the speaker

Responding to these candid questions, Dr. Pham Minh Triet provided analysis that helped learners realize that all emotions are valid and that seeking help is not a sign of weakness but an expression of strength and self-love. Through the seminar, UEH students learned a valuable lesson: to listen to themselves, to share when needed, and to care for those around them, because every small act of understanding can save a soul in distress.

The program attracted a large number of learners and staff

In addition to programs aimed at improving learners' mental well-being, the UEH Department of Student Affairs also provides psychological support services. Through in-person or online counseling, learners can receive timely listening, companionship, and support from psychological professionals throughout their academic and daily lives. This initiative not only demonstrates UEH's commitment to creating a safe, humane, and sustainable university environment but also helps UEHers achieve holistic development in both intellect and mental health.

It is hoped that every UEHer will become a pioneer in spreading a positive lifestyle, joining hands to build a compassionate, happy, and sustainable learning community at UEH.
