With a mission to advance understanding of sustainable development in Vietnam, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has implemented numerous activities to support the community, professionals, and local partners in accessing sustainable development knowledge. From the "EU4Sustainability" project in collaboration with the European Union to STEM training programs at high schools, UEH continuously spreads awareness, helping to build a foundation for sustainable consciousness across society.

Raising Awareness on Sustainable Development through the EU4Sustainability Project

On October 26, 2023, UEH officially launched a groundbreaking project titled "Sustainable Development in the European Union: Jean Monnet Multidisciplinary Module."Funded by the European Union through the Erasmus Program, this initiative is recognized as a prestigious part of the Jean Monnet Program. Currently, fewer than ten higher education institutions in Vietnam have received funding from Jean Monnet Actions, and UEH is proud to be among them. Through this project, UEH aims to provide students with essential tools to understand the European Union's role in promoting global sustainable development, contributing to Vietnam's sustainable development journey.

STEM Training by UEH Global – Transferring Skills and Expanding Sustainable Knowledge

UEH Global aims to spread knowledge and integrate sustainable values into the community, contributing to societal development. In 2023, UEH organized STEM Teaching Training for teachers and students from high schools in Vĩnh Long Province. STEM education not only enhances professional teaching skills but also fosters enthusiasm for learning and innovative thinking among both teachers and students, especially regarding sustainability topics. Through this training program, participating high schools have the opportunity to exchange ideas, share knowledge and experiences in organizing STEM education, and improve their teaching skills. This project aims to systematically and sustainably integrate STEM education into schools, equipping students to apply their knowledge, particularly in sustainable development, to real-life situations.

Enhancing Research Capacity for Sustainability Experts

On November 3-4, 2023, the UEH College of Economics, Law, and Government (UEH-CELG) and EfD-Vietnam organized a workshop focused on Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs), attended by 32 sustainability researchers from various universities and research institutes. During the program, experts explored how RCTs can be used to measure and evaluate impacts, such as those from microfinance program assessments, carbon tax policies, and forest conservation initiatives. This collaboration aimed to enhance participants' understanding of this method.

Through practical and meaningful activities, UEH is building a community of responsible partners and experts with a deep understanding of sustainable development. Through training programs, workshops, and research, UEH equips the younger generation with advanced knowledge tools and provides long-term benefits for the local community. These efforts reflect UEH's commitment to supporting Vietnam on its path toward a sustainable future.
