Inauguration Ceremony of the Grassroots Sports Complex at UEH Nguyen Van Linh Campus

On the morning of October 15th, 2022, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) held the Inauguration Ceremony of the Grassroots Sports Complex at UEH Nguyen Van Linh Campus. The putting into operation of the Sports Complex will help increase the utility to serve the UEHers community with physical education activities, sports, and teaching of physical education subjects in the upcoming time.
 
Over 46 years of establishment and development, in parallel with efforts to improve the quality of training and scientific research towards internationalization, UEH has always paid special attention to perfecting and investing in building facilities at the international level. It can be stated that breakthroughs in facility renovation in recent years have given UEH a more spacious and modern appearance. Most notably, UEH Nguyen Van Linh Green and Smart campus - the largest scale project ever of UEH, with a modern design, immersed in the airy and spacious natural setting of the southern university town of the city went into operation in early 2021. In 2022, continuing to implement the plan to complete the Nguyen Van Linh campus, UEH built and officially inaugurated a sports complex on the N green campus on the morning of October 15th, 2022.
 
Attending the inauguration ceremony of Nguyen Van Linh grassroots sports complex were: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of UEH University Council; Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – UEH President; Dr. Bui Quang Hung – UEH Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of UEH Strategic and Policy Advisory Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Trang - Vice Rector of UEH College of Business (COB); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao - Vice Rector of UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD) together with leaders of UEH Units, Departments, and Divisions. On the sports exchange side, there were Mr. Vu Anh Khoa - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trade Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op), Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc - General Director of the Union of Cooperation Commercial Commune of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon Co.op), Mr. Nguyen Duy Quoc Viet - Deputy General Director of HCMC Electricity Corporation (EVNHCM).
 
 
 
 
Overview of the inauguration ceremony
 
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of UEH University Council shared: “On the journey of 46 years of development, along with its growing position, UEH always focuses on promoting innovation in facilities towards modernity and international standards to serve the learning needs and living facilities for all students and staff of the University. The most obvious example can be mentioned is the UEH Nguyen Van Linh Campus project in the new Southern Urban Area of ​​the City, with an area of ​​​​more than 11 hectares, providing an open and creative learning environment, in accordance with the Green University model. Continuing to implement the plan to complete the Nguyen Van Linh campus, today, the Sports Complex was officially inaugurated and put into use, for the purpose of serving physical training, sports, and community activities for students and officials of UEH. In particular, the appearance of Nguyen Van Linh grassroots sports complex will help diversify types of sports at UEH listed as football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, golf, etc., creating favorable conditions in UEH's sports teaching activities, bringing many useful learning and training options to learners".

Nguyen Van Linh grassroots sports complex includes 1 multi-purpose field and 1 artificial grass football field. In particular, the multi-purpose court will serve to teach tennis, volleyball, and basketball. The artificial grass football field is for football competition (7 people), or is divided into 2 playing fields (5 people), and is expected to have more equipment for use as a golf practice field. In addition, the Sports Complex has a number of accompanying utilities listed as exercise equipment, investing in an airy landscape with many green trees around, in harmony with the overall architecture of the Campus; creating an ideal space for research, study, living, and sports for UEH lecturers and students.
 
The putting into operation of the Nguyen Van Linh campus shows the interest and investment of UEH in perfecting the system of facilities to serve and meet the needs of the comprehensive development of learners through the diversification of types of sports in physical education training such as football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, golf and so on. At the same time, the university increases the facilities, serving physical training activities of the UEHers community listed as organizing student sports competitions and the UEH Official Sports Festival.

Within the framework of the inauguration ceremony, UEH organized sports activities and exchanges with partners and alumni who have been with the University in the past time. Specifically, there are tennis exchanges between UEH and Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation (EVNHCMC) and football exchanges with Ho Chi Minh City Union of Commercial Cooperatives (Saigon Coop) in a friendly atmosphere and bustle.

On the development journey towards a multi-disciplinary and sustainable University, with the determination to build a high-quality training environment, and help learners to develop comprehensively, UEH has been achieving positive results in the innovation of new facilities, following the model of a ‘green’ and ‘smart’ University of international standards - creating a creative and inspiring learning environment. These are great efforts and a breakthrough for the UEH team in the process of modernizing facilities, meeting the requirements of international integration and competition.
