In accordance with the general goal of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), the Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies (JABES) defines its goal as becoming the leading academic journal in the field of economics, business, and management in Asia. JABES aims to publish and provide a high-quality knowledge platform, connect domestic and foreign researchers, promote innovation, transfer global knowledge, and create research of practical value to support sustainable development.
JABES is a journal that has been indexed in prestigious international journal databases

Notable databases that JABES have been officially indexed recently include ESCI of Web of Science (since June 2021), SCOPUS (since March 2022), and ABDC (ranked B, since March 2023).
After more than a year of being officially recognized as a member of SCOPUS, in May 2023, JABES was ranked in the highest percentile - Q1, for Economics, Econometrics and Finance. Besides the current achievements, JABES always strives for higher challenges, aiming to continue to be indexed in other prestigious international journals. With efforts and continuous improvement in governance, operation, and quality improvement, in July 2024, JABES continues to be indexed in the ERIM Journals. ERIM is a collection of high-quality journals on management research, selected by the Erasmus Research Institute of Management of Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands). This index includes all management research journals, with scientific quality guaranteed to be managed by highly qualified Editorial Boards from prestigious universities in the world, ensuring a rigorous review process. In fact, Journals in the ERIM index must have high impact factor data.
The articles submitted to JABES are growing in both quantity and quality. Specifically, in 2024, in the Vietnamese version (JABES-V), there were 176 articles from 148 authors submitted to JABES. The number of articles approved for publication was 53 (acceptance rate was 30.11%). In the English version (JABES-E), there were more than 600 articles from 841 authors from 37 countries submitted to JABES (of which, the countries with the highest number of submissions were India, Indonesia, and Thailand). The number of articles accepted for publication was 22 (acceptance rate was 3.6%). JABES-E achieved more than 200,000 downloads and was cited more than 400 times in 2024.
Up to the current time, JABES has been indexed in EconLit, EBSCO, Cabell’s Directories, Discovery Service, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), ASEAN Citation Index (ACI), Google Scholar, WorldCat, Proquest, Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC), SCOPUS, Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM). etc. Being indexed in international indexes is clear evidence affirming the quality and international capacity of JABES.
In 2024, JABES aims to create deeper connections in quality and quantity between domestic and foreign researchers, promoting research towards sustainable development.
Developing from the series of annual international conferences ACBES that have had many echoes, in August 2024, JABES (UEH) coordinated with two universities in Indonesia, Udayana University and Padjadjaran University, to organize the Joint Asian Conference on Business and Economic Studies (J-ACBES 2024). Of which, JABES is mainly responsible for building the program, inviting keynote speakers, calling for articles and handling the review process, as well as inviting prestigious international sponsors.
J-ACBES 2024 is an international conference affiliated with three prestigious conferences: (1) the 6th Asian Conference on Business and Economics Studies (ACBES) hosted by JABES (UEH), (2) the 8th Global Advanced Research Conference on Management and Business Studies (GARCOMBS) hosted by Padjadjaran University, and (3) the 2nd International Conference on Economics and Business Udayana University (ICONICS) hosted by Udayana University.
