On November 08, 2025, the School of Government – UEH College of Economics, Law and Government, in collaboration with the People's Committee of Tan Phuoc Ward, Phu My Town, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, organized a thematic field trip on "Towards a Smart and Sustainable City" for students of the Master of Public Management program, Intake 34 (Class CHK34-1-DC). This is a key practical learning activity within the training program, designed to provide students with insights into local urban governance and sustainable development models.
Representing Tan Phuoc Ward were Mr. Duong Ngoc Chau – Member of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Executive Board, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Chairman of the Tan Phuoc Ward People's Council, along with leaders from the ward's departments and organizations.
From the UEH College of Economics, Law and Government, attendees included Dr. Le Vinh Trien – Lecturer at the School of Government; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Tat Thang – Dean of the Health and Agricultural Policy Research Institute (HAPRI); MA. Nguyen Van Rot – Vice Director of the Mekong International Training Center, along with the faculty and students of the Master of Public Management program, Intake 34.

During the working session, representatives from Tan Phuoc Ward shared insights on: (i) the ward's potential, advantages, and sustainable development orientation for the 2025-2030 period; and (ii) its smart city development strategy, linked to the Industry – Services – Seaport – Logistics model, which contributes to local economic growth and the development of the Southeast region. These practical insights from local leaders provided the students with a more comprehensive understanding of public administration, socio-economic development, and digital transformation in urban governance.
Following the discussion, the delegation conducted a field visit to Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT), Vina Logistics Port, and Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park. Here, they were introduced to the operational models, infrastructure connectivity, and modern logistics development strategies within the Southern Key Economic Region. The field trip provided valuable lessons on public management, urban development administration, and regional connectivity in the era of digital transformation.

The field trip to Tan Phuoc Ward is a core activity of the Master of Public Management program, which aims to train officials with the capacity to formulate, manage, and implement public policy in the context of innovation and integration.
The activity also clearly affirms UEH's commitment to strengthening the linkage between the university and local governments, contributing to the dissemination of sustainable development models and innovation in public governance practices.
