MOA Signing Ceremony Between the School of Economics UEH-CELG and the Faculty of Economics, Khon Kaen University (Thailand)

On the afternoon of August 3, 2026, the School of Economics (UEH-CELG), under the UEH College of Economics, Law and Government at University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), hosted a welcoming reception and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony with the Faculty of Economics, Khon Kaen University (KKU), Thailand. Held in a formal atmosphere with the attendance of leaders and representatives from both institutions, the ceremony marked an important milestone in strengthening international cooperation in education, scientific research, and academic exchange.

Attending the signing ceremony on the UEH side were Dr. Tran Thi Tuan Anh - Vice Rector, UEH College of Economics, Law and Government; Dr. Nguyen Kim Duc - Dean, School of Economics; Dr. Ho Quoc Thong - Vice Dean, School of Economics; Dr. Nguyen Luu Bao Doan - Undergraduate Program Director, Real Estate; Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoang Oanh - Undergraduate Program Director, Economics; Dr. Vo Thanh Tam - Vice Head of Division, Human Resource Management; and Dr. Nguyen Quoc Dinh and Dr. Phan Hoang Diep - Lecturers, School of Economics.

On the side of the Faculty of Economics, Khon Kaen University, attendees included Assoc.Prof. Suthin Wianwiwat - Dean; Dr. Prasert Vijitnopparat - Associate Dean for Research, Innovation, Academic Service and Corporate Communication; Dr. Jakkrich Jaarviriyaboonya - Associate Dean for Education and Student Development; Assoc.Prof. Teerawat Charoenrat - Lecturer and Faculty Board Member; along with Assoc.Prof. Voravee Saengavut - Lecturer and Director of the International Bachelor's Program.

Overview of the signing ceremony

Delivering the welcome remarks, Dr. Tran Thi Tuan Anh shared: “The cooperative relationship between UEH and KKU has been built step by step through numerous practical activities in training, research, and international exchange. UEH has signed an MOU with KKU; following that, UEH's College of Economics, Law and Government (CELG) also signed a cooperation agreement with KKU's College of Local Administration (COLA). Therefore, today's MOA signing between the UEH School of Economics and the KKU Faculty of Economics marks a new step forward, further expanding the cooperation network and creating more opportunities for student and faculty exchange, joint research, and knowledge sharing. With shared orientations toward academic quality, internationalization, and sustainable development, this agreement is expected to lay the foundation for an effective and long-lasting partnership between the two sides.”

Representing the UEH-CELG School of Economics, Dr. Nguyen Kim Duc shared: “Today's MOA signing carries even greater significance as it takes place in the year UEH celebrates the 50th anniversary of its founding and development, which is also the 50-year journey of the School of Economics. Building on the MOU between UEH and KKU signed in 2023, this agreement between the two Schools is the next step in moving the cooperative relationship from a general framework into concrete activities. The value of an agreement lies not only in the signing ceremony itself, but in its ability to translate into substantive opportunities for faculty and students on both sides. As early as 2026, the two Schools can begin with student exchange, joint research, and academic seminars, while also preparing for 2027 with deeper activities such as co-organizing conferences, faculty exchange, and shared training programs. We hope that today's concrete steps in cooperation will lay the groundwork for a long-term relationship built on co-created value.”

Representing the UEH-CELG School of Economics, Assoc.Prof. Suthin Wianwiwat shared: “We are truly honored to establish this cooperative relationship with the School of Economics, UEH-CELG - an institution with a strong academic standing, a dynamic research environment, and an increasingly prominent international presence. We greatly appreciate UEH-CELG's commitment to the quality of economics education, as well as its important role in advancing research and knowledge to address the economic and development challenges facing Vietnam and the wider region. This MoA, therefore, is not simply a cooperation between two units, but a connection between two academic communities that share the aspiration to create meaningful impact for the region. Through joint research, academic exchange, student and faculty exchange, and other collaborative initiatives, I believe our partnership can become a solid foundation for advancing economics education, policy-oriented research, and sustainable development across the Greater Mekong Subregion and beyond.”

Assoc.Prof. Suthin Wianwiwat - Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Khon Kaen University, shares his remarks

As part of the working session, the two sides discussed their development directions and agreed to implement a number of key cooperation priorities for the 2026-2028 period. Accordingly, the student exchange program will enable students to take part in field research, internships, and academic exchange activities on topics of current interest such as the digital economy, sustainable development, and climate change. The two units will also strengthen scientific research cooperation and international publication through joint research projects, co-organized academic conferences, and joint academic publications. In addition, faculty and researcher exchange activities will be enhanced to share expertise and teaching experience, expand the academic network, and develop further collaborative initiatives between the two Schools.

The MOA signing ceremony between the two units concluded successfully. The cooperation agreement is valid until March 2028, laying the foundation for the UEH-CELG School of Economics and the KKU Faculty of Economics to continue expanding their cooperative programs in training, research, and academic exchange. This is not only an important milestone in the internationalization strategy of the UEH-CELG School of Economics but also reflects both units' commitment to building a sustainable cooperative relationship, contributing to improving training quality, promoting scientific research, and creating more opportunities for learning, research, and professional development for faculty and students on both sides.
