New UEH Publications Alert (Week 1 – October 2026): From Fundamental Science to Digital Transformation, Decoding the Hidden Mechanisms of Innovation and Human Behavior

Affirming the Depth of Fundamental and Computational Science

One of the highlights this week is the presence of research in applied mathematics and modern analysis, demonstrating the expanding foundation in fundamental sciences alongside research directions in economics, management and technology.

  • - Mathematics & Modern Analysis: Scholars have addressed complex theoretical problems such as the unique solvability of the Schrödinger equation on Lipschitz domains with Robin boundary conditions; Caputo-type fractional stochastic differential inclusions driven by Brownian motion; and Hessian estimates for strong solutions of the Schrödinger equation in weighted Orlicz spaces. The application of advanced mathematical tools such as the layer potential method, fixed-point argument and Filippov-type approximation demonstrates research capacity that goes beyond applying existing models toward the development of mathematical methodologies.
  • - Artificial Intelligence in Forecasting and Computer Vision: Algorithmic power is harnessed through a two-stage machine learning framework to forecast intraday stock price movements in Vietnam. The research integrates five algorithms, including Logistic Regression, Naive Bayes, XGBoost, Decision Tree and Random Forest, through the Stacking technique to optimize forecasting accuracy. In parallel, Computer Vision is applied to automatically recognize weather conditions from still images, opening up new approaches for intelligent meteorological monitoring systems.

Decoding Organizational Governance and Digital Transformation

Digital transformation does not automatically lead to innovation. To explain this gap, UEH research approaches the issue through complex quantitative models that combine multiple theoretical foundations of management.

  • - Modeling Innovation Capabilities: Applying the Dynamic Capabilities Framework, Contingency Theory and Upper Echelons Theory, the research develops a dual moderated mediation model to clarify the relationship between technology and innovation performance. The findings highlight the role of data-driven decision-making as a core mediating mechanism that helps transform technological capabilities into innovation performance under the guidance of innovation leadership.
  • - Circular Economy as a Source of Competitive Advantage: At the level of internationally integrated enterprises, circular economy practices are approached beyond the goal of waste reduction. When combined with Industry 4.0 technologies, the circular economy can become a strategic resource, contributing to stronger innovation capabilities and improved export performance in international markets.

Experimental Breakthroughs in Environmental Behavior and Public Policy

Alongside theoretical models and data analysis, UEH's behavioral research capacity continues to expand through rigorous experimental designs, providing additional scientific evidence for policymaking.

Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT): With a sample size of 1,312, the study measures the spillover effects of environmental campaigns, focusing on single-use plastic consumption behavior. The findings show that interventions aimed at changing behavior not only generate direct effects on individuals but can also foster social consensus, thereby strengthening support for public policies such as banning or taxing plastic waste.

This experimental approach enables a shift from observing correlations to directly testing impact mechanisms, thereby providing valuable empirical evidence for the design of environmental policies.

Artificial Intelligence in Education and Brand Communication

Rather than simply asking whether AI should be used, UEH research delves into the quality, motivations and mechanisms of human-AI interaction in specific contexts.

  • - Self-Determination with GenAI: In the educational environment, the research focuses on identifying the factors that determine students' intrinsic motivation when using generative artificial intelligence. Understanding these mechanisms is important for educational institutions in developing strategies that help learners proactively integrate AI in a responsible manner aligned with academic objectives.
  • - AI-powered Green Marketing: At the intersection of technology and branding, the research explores how FMCG companies use AI to communicate sustainability commitments, while analyzing how young consumers, particularly Gen Z, perceive and respond to "green" messages created through algorithms.

Through these studies, AI and big data at UEH demonstrate a "dual role": serving both as research subjects in education, marketing and management studies, and as methodological tools applied in financial analysis, forecasting and image recognition.

From Fundamental Science to Contemporary Challenges

The combination of academic mathematics, computational science, rigorous experimental design and a focus on addressing contemporary challenges continues to strengthen UEH's interdisciplinary research capacity. From advanced theoretical problems to AI applications, from environmental behavior to organizational governance and education, these studies demonstrate an increasingly clear connection between fundamental science, technology and practical issues.

UEH continues to pursue its role as a multidisciplinary research university, where international knowledge is created and transformed into valuable contributions to digital transformation, green transformation and sustainable development in Vietnam and globally.
