Addressing Global Challenges through Contemporary Academic Perspectives
Academically, UEH researchers continued to adopt and advance internationally recognized theoretical foundations, including Dynamic Capabilities Theory, the Circular Economy framework, and emerging concepts in AI Governance.
This week's research portfolio explores several highly relevant global topics:
- Twin Transition (Digital & Green): Investigating how digital technology adoption improves corporate carbon performance, evaluating carbon pricing policies in the transportation sector, and developing intelligent control systems for wind energy generation.
- Technology & Artificial Intelligence: Introducing the concept of AI Governance Drift to explain governance failures after AI deployment, examining the psychological effects of AI-powered personalization on consumers, and assessing how Industry 4.0 technologies enhance firms' innovation performance.
- Macroeconomics & Inclusive Development: Exploring how biodiversity risks influence corporate cost behavior, examining the nonlinear relationship between digital transformation and income inequality, and evaluating how government support fosters technological innovation and SME performance.
- Tourism & Social Policy: Investigating the influence of street food experiences on destination image and tourist behavior, while also providing policy insights into pension reform and strategies to increase public participation in retirement schemes.
International Research Standards through Advanced Methodologies
UEH researchers continue to demonstrate strong methodological capabilities by applying rigorous analytical approaches and advanced data-processing techniques.
The studies employ a wide range of methods, including:
- Advanced Econometrics & Data Analytics: Instrumental Variables (2SLS), Difference-in-Differences (DiD), Propensity Score Matching (PSM), Entropy Balancing, PLS-SEM, and quantitative financial models using longitudinal and multinational datasets.
- Data Science & Engineering: AI-driven control systems, machine learning techniques, mixed qualitative–quantitative research designs, and mathematical modeling applied to finance, energy, and business management.
The integration of firm-level and national datasets with sophisticated analytical methods enables UEH researchers to produce findings that are both academically rigorous and highly relevant to policymakers and industry practitioners.
Creating Knowledge for Global Transformation
Overall, this week's publications further reinforce UEH's position as a leading interdisciplinary research university. Beyond contributing to international scientific knowledge, these studies provide practical implications for digital transformation, AI governance, green transition, innovation, and sustainable development, supporting efforts to address complex socioeconomic challenges in an increasingly dynamic global environment.
