On the morning of June 8, 2025, in an atmosphere of excitement and solemnity, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) held the Opening Ceremony and Orientation on the Regulations for Doctoral Admissions, First Intake – 2025. The event was a resounding success, marking the beginning of a new and promising journey of knowledge, and welcoming doctoral candidates to join UEH’s intensive academic environment.

With nearly 50 years of establishment and development, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City has become a prestigious and leading university brand on Vietnam’s educational map, fulfilling its mission of training high-quality human resources – especially at the postgraduate level – with a reputation for excellence in the Southern region and nationwide. Along this journey, UEH has been and continues to train doctoral graduates who actively contribute to the country’s development, holding key positions and roles in enterprises, agencies, and organizations from the central to local levels. Continuing to build upon its strength in high-quality postgraduate education, UEH solemnly organized the Opening Ceremony and Orientation on the Regulations for Doctoral Admissions, First Intake – 2025, marking an important starting point in the academic journey of the new doctoral candidates.

Attending the Opening Ceremony, the program was honored to welcome Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong – Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council; Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – President of UEH; Associate Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung – Vice President of UEH; Dr. Dinh Cong Khai – Vice President of UEH; Associate Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet – Chairwoman of UEH’s Strategic and Policy Advisory Council; along with leaders of member schools, heads of departments and faculties, directors of doctoral training programs, supervising lecturers, and the doctoral candidates of the first intake in 2025.

In the first doctoral admission round of 2025, UEH proudly welcomed newly admitted doctoral candidates across various disciplines including: Human Resource Management; Statistics; Banking; Political Economy; Development Economics; Finance; Public Administration; Economic Law; Business Commerce; Accounting; and Business Administration. Among them were one international doctoral candidate and ten candidates who used English in their entrance proposals. These individuals have excellently passed a rigorous selection process and are ready to embark on an intensive research journey, academic development, and to affirm their capabilities within UEH’s advanced scientific environment.

At the Opening Ceremony, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh, President of UEH, shared: “The path of in-depth research at the doctoral level is chosen by those who are dedicated, persistent, and passionate about knowledge. It is not an easy journey; it requires resilience, the cultivation of courage, critical thinking, and continuous creativity. UEH commits to always accompany doctoral candidates through innovative programs, quality teaching methods, and a modern data system. These efforts not only build a progressive learning environment and enhance the quality of doctoral education at UEH but also contribute to the development of modern science.”

He congratulated and welcomed the new doctoral candidates as part of the UEH academic community, while advising them to diligently fulfill the following during their studies:

+ Organize work reasonably to complete the training program on time, thoroughly understand training regulations, and develop research skills;

+ Build independent and creative research capabilities, foster scientific critical thinking, and enhance English proficiency for researching international literature and works;

+ Respect research ethics, always be honest and transparent in work, and protect the rights of all stakeholders;

+ Expand academic exchanges both internationally and domestically to enhance knowledge and build professional relationships;

+ Maintain strong determination in thesis work, skillfully apply scientific research methods to achieve quality results and publish international research.

Continuing the program, Dr. Dinh Thi Thu Hong – Deputy Head of the UEH Training Board – announced the admission decisions, and UEH leaders consecutively handed over the official admission decisions to the new doctoral candidates, recognizing their efforts and officially opening their new academic journey.

During the program, Associate Prof. Dr. Tu Van Binh – Deputy Head of the UEH Training Board – provided an overview of the core contents of the Regulations and Training Plan for the Doctoral Program. Through this, doctoral candidates gained a firm understanding of important timelines, academic requirements, research procedures, and the support UEH offers to learners. This presentation not only provided professional information but also conveyed the serious academic spirit and responsibility each doctoral candidate must uphold on their path to conquering knowledge.
