Opening ceremony of training and knowledge-updating program to improve executive capacity for Leaders and Managers of Dong Nai Province in 2023

With prestige and training quality that has been affirmed over the past 47 years, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is always a reliable address for businesses, associations, and governmental agencies in training, fostering, and providing economic, business, management, law, technology, and design knowledge for their human resources. On the morning of October 6, 2023, at the Hall of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, UEH coordinated with the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee to solemnly organize the Opening Ceremony of the "Training and Knowledge-Updating Program to Improve Executive Capacity for Leaders and Managers of Dong Nai Province in 2023" with the theme "Improving leadership and management capacity to promote competitiveness and sustainable development for the locality in the context of economic integration." for 46 learners who are Directors of Departments/Divisions/Sẻvices, Heads of Committees under People's Councils, Chairmen of People's Committees of districts/cities under the Province, Presidents and General Directors of companies in Dongnai Province.

Attending the Opening Ceremony, on behalf of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, there were Mr. Ho Thanh Son - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Pham Xuan Ha - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Mr. Nguyen Son Hung - Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ms. Bui Thi Yen - Provincial Party Committee member, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department; Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Trang - Provincial Party Committee member, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department.

On behalf of UEH, there were: Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - UEH Vice President; Dr. Nguyen Le Hoang Thuy To Quyen - Lecturer at the School of Government; Mr. Nguyen Kim Duc - Deputy Director of the Institute for Regional Development Research and Consulting.

Overview of the Opening Ceremony

At the beginning of the course, Mr. Ho Thanh Son - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - congratulated UEH on officially upgrading its governance model to a "Multi-disciplinary University". Mr. Son affirmed that Dong Nai Province always focuses on training and fostering leadership and management officials and recognized this as one of the important stages to promote competitiveness and sustainable development for the locality in the new context. He appreciated UEH's efforts in surveying in-depth interviews with 15 Departments/Boards/Industries of Dong Nai province to identify bottlenecks and develop a training program close to local realities. He also advised leaders and managers participating in the training course to increase interaction, debate, exchange, and sharing with UEH's team of experts to be able to update new economic models in the process of managing their unit's operations in the upcoming time.

Speaking at the opening of the course, Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - UEH Vice President shared: "The program "Improving leadership and management capacity to promote competitiveness and sustainable development for localities in the context of global economic integration" was specifically designed for leaders and managers at the strategic level of Dong Nai Province with the aim of improving the capacity to plan, to lead and to administer development policies for leaders and managers to meet the sustainable development leadership requirements for Dong Nai province in the 2021-2025 term and prepare leadership and management personnel in the next term.”

The program to foster and to update knowledge to improve executive capacity for leaders and managers of Dong Nai Province in 2023 includes 9 topics, taking place from October 6^th to November 3^rd 2023, associated with the reality of Dong Nai Province including: (1) Competitiveness and sustainable development strategy in Dong Nai in the context of global economic integration; (2) Planning and implementing sustainable development policies; (3) Human resource management in public organizations; (4) Agricultural value chain applying high technology and market linkage activities; (5) Digital transformation management in the public sector: Opportunities and challenges; (6) Developing smart cities associated with industrialization and modernization to promote sustainable development in Dong Nai; (7) Innovative leadership in the context of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution; (8) Strategy for enhancing the capacity of Dong Nai tourism cluster in the context of Industry 4.0; and (9) International economic integration and globalization – Policies for Dong Nai.

The program is designed and implemented according to a teaching method that combines theory and case studies, especially discussions to identify problems and bottlenecks in the province's development process, generating ideas, initiatives and solutions to solve short-term and long-term development problems.
