Opening Ceremony of UEH CEO Program - Cohort 2

On April 18, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) officially held the opening ceremony for the UEH CEO Program - Cohort 2, continuing its journey of developing bold, innovative, and pioneering business leaders in the digital era.

Building on more than 50 years of training and research in economics and management, and inheriting the positive outcomes of Cohort 1, the UEH CEO Program – Cohort 2 continues to pursue the goal of training 10,000 CEOs under Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW of the Politburo on private sector development. The program aims to accompany business leaders in Ho Chi Minh City and other localities on their journey of restructuring, strategic planning, and leading organizations toward sustainable development.

The opening ceremony was attended by organizations, experts, and business managers, including: Mr. Bui Xuan Phong – Former CEO of Sam Tuyen Lam Golf & Resorts; Former CEO of DHA Medic; Former Deputy CEO of KLC Holdings; and Former Deputy CEO of Pega Holdings.

On behalf of UEH, the ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung – Interim President of UEH, along with leaders of member schools, departments, faculties/institutes, members of the executive board, lecturers, program training experts, program advisors, and 20 participants of the UEH CEO Program Cohort 2.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung shared the direction and practical significance of the program: “As a key multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary university with a strong orientation toward research and innovation, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City is deeply aware of its responsibility to accompany the nation in carrying out this important mission.

UEH is committed to delivering a hands-on, modern, and internationalized training program, with a team of experienced lecturers, experts, and entrepreneurs; an updated learning resource system; and an extensive networking ecosystem connecting the university, experts, businesses, and localities. Beyond skills training, we also hope to build a sustainable knowledge ecosystem for the Vietnamese CEO community.”

Sharing an overview of the program, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Le - Director of the Institute for Human Resource and Business Development, and Deputy Head of the UEH CEO Program Executive Board - declared that the program is designed as a leadership development journey consisting of four stages:

- Stage 1: Shaping business vision and strategy

- Stage 2: Elevating operational strategy, organizational capabilities, and data-driven management

- Stage 3: Risk governance and adaptive capacity management

- Stage 4: Strengthening integration and creating sustainable value

The distinctive feature of the UEH CEO Program is its help in helping participants reassess their businesses, systematize their thinking, and transform insights into practical solutions. The core of the program is the Capstone Project, which addresses a critical issue affecting the company’s operations and growth, such as technology, business, marketing, human resources, or finance, or develops a new business idea. Through a combination of learning, critical discussion, and coaching, the program enables participants to develop solutions that can be implemented immediately, thereby improving the efficiency of business restructuring and growth.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duc Viet, representing the UEH Department of Training, presented an overview of the academic regulations and provided guidance on using UEH’s learning and research systems, helping participants prepare thoroughly before entering the training process.

The opening ceremony concluded with the kickoff session “CEO DNA - Defining Executive Courage and Competence.” Mr. Bui Xuan Phong -Former CEO of Sam Tuyen Lam Golf & Resorts, Former CEO of DHA Medic, Former Deputy CEO of KLC Holdings, and Former Deputy CEO of Pega Holdings - delivered important insights, laying the foundation for shaping leaders' mindsets and executive courage in the new context.

“Knowledge to pave the way, courage to stay the course, and partnership to go the distance” - The Opening Ceremony of the UEH CEO Program Cohort 02 officially marks the beginning of a new journey for business leaders in the new context. The program affirms the University’s pioneering role in accompanying Ho Chi Minh City and the region toward becoming a leading economic–financial and innovation hub in Southeast Asia.
