“Proud of Multidisciplinary and Sustainable UEH” - UEH EngContest 2024 Connecting the English Composition Community

In order to summarize and to honor the works in the first English composition contest at UEH called "Proud of Multidisciplinary and Sustainable UEH" - UEH EngContest 2024, the Union of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) organized the Announcement and Award Ceremony on November 8, 2024 at Room A.205 - 59C Nguyen Dinh Chieu Campus.
Spreading the pride and sustainable commitment of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) through each work
Following the success of the series “English coffee talks & board games”, the UEH EngContest is both a new initiative of the UEH Union to improve the English proficiency of officials and employees and a meaningful activity to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the establishment of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20.
The announcement and award ceremony recognized the participation of Dr. Nguyen Thien Duy - Chairman of UEH Union; Dr. Phan Thi Bao Quyen - Vice Chairwoman of UEH Union; Ms. Phan Thi Thu Hang - Standing Member of UEH Union; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Danh - Member of UEH Union Committee, along with the presence of authors/groups of authors participating in the contest and UEH officials and employees interested in the program.
In her closing speech, Dr. Phan Thi Bao Quyen - Vice Chairwoman of UEH Union - Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee - expressed her sincere gratitude to the Union affiliations and all UEH officials and employees for their enthusiastic participation, support, and contribution to the success of the competition. Dr. Bao Quyen remarked: “I believe that this flame of enthusiasm and solidarity will continue to spread and be maintained to help us build a strong, cohesive and sustainable UEHers community.”

As a young lecturer currently working at the UEH Institute of Smart Cities and Management and also a contestant - Mr. Pham Nguyen Hoai - expressed: “UEH creates opportunities for young lecturers like me to have the opportunity to work, to research and to learn from the experiences of senior teachers and colleagues. As the contest launched by the Union, my colleagues and I always wondered how to express our pride in our works clearly and coherently. This is not only my personal achievement but also the success of the whole team. In addition to the awards received, we are very happy and pleased to have a time working together.”

After more than a month of implementation, the contest "PROUD OF MULTI-DISCIPLINARY AND SUSTAINABLE UEH" - UEH EngContest 2024 has received strong responses on UEH's social media platforms with 4,345 interactions, 1,538 shares and more than 20,000 views from 42 entries in all four categories: Article, Podcast, Poster and Video. Each work has been carefully invested and illustrated the authors’ prides in UEH.

In addition to the awards by category, the Organizing Committee awarded the movement award "The team with the most individuals participating in the competition" to the Union of Institutes & School of Media Design to recognize and encourage the enthusiastic participation of the unit.

UEH EngContest 2024 is not only an English composition contest but also an opportunity for each UEH staff and employee to express their love, pride and responsibility for the multidisciplinary and sustainable University. The contest has contributed to creating a creative space, helping individuals develop their language skills and spread the positive values of UEH. Through each work, the spirit of solidarity and commitment to the sustainable development of the UEH community is further deepened, strongly inspiring all those who have loved and accompanied UEH on our development journey.
