Review conference on scientific management and international cooperation in the period of 2020 - 2022 and operation direction for the period of 2023 - 2025
In the past years, scientific management and international cooperation activities of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) have achieved very important results, bringing the UEH brand to the top of world rankings, contributing to realizing the strategic goal of becoming a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University. To recognize the efforts of collectives and individuals with excellent achievements in management and international cooperation activities, and at the same time, give the development direction for the next stages, on the morning of March 3, 2023, UEH held the "Review conference on scientific management and international cooperation in the period of 2020 - 2022 and operation direction for the period of 2023 - 2025".
The conference was attended by: Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President; Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice President; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Bui Thanh Trang - Vice Head of UEH College of Business; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Khanh Nam - Vice Head of UEH College of Economics, Law and Government.
At the same time, the conference also had the presence of lecturers who are: Chairman, Vice-Chairman of the Union of the University; Secretary of the Union, President of the Student Association; Head, Vice Head of School/Institute/Center/Department; Program Directors of UEH and members of the University; Head of the managing units under UEH and member colleges; Professors, Associate Professors; Department of Scientific Management and International Cooperation; General Department of member colleges; representatives of Vinh Long Campus attending online; and especially the representatives of the units, the lecturers who are rewarded for their outstanding contributions to scientific research and international cooperation in the period of 2020 - 2022.
Overview of the conference
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President, recognized the achievements in scientific research and international cooperation activities of the University in the period of 2020-2022: “In the past 3 years, UEH has published about 1,400 research papers on Scopus and ISI whose quality is getting higher and higher. During this period, the university also organized many prestigious scientific conferences, especially those that have become trademarks of UEH such as: ACBES (Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies), ICBF (Institute of Business Research), Sustainable Development Seminar Series READY 4 NEXT. Besides, the University started to have high-level research projects, completed 3 state-level projects, 4 Nafosted projects, 38 ministerial-level projects, of which are nearly 200 university-level projects… This is proof demonstrating the university's kingly innovations, diligence, and sustainability in research activities and creating prestige with the Ministry. Regarding student research, in the past 3 years, we have made very good improvements; overall, nearly 2,500 students participated with 700 topics, 14 awards, 4 topics won EUREKA prizes, and 22 topics won Olympic Prizes in Econometrics, nearly 500 topics won the Young Researcher Prize. Student awards have also confirmed the level of student research activities, demonstrating UEH's change in quantity - from quality entrance exams to correlated outputs. In particular, in the past period, UEH has achieved higher positions in international rankings such as QS Asia - from a position near 600+ to 551+ in 2022 and now close to 401+ in the rankings of 2023. In addition to the world's position on other major rankings such as Webometric, Scimago also noted that most of the school's fields are ranked at 500 in the world in which, the most prominent ones being Economics, Econometrics, Management, Business Administration, and Accounting. In addition, the multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral direction was also recognized in terms of the energy economy, environment, social sciences, technology, mathematics, etc. All were recorded at 500th or better. These achievements have partly contributed to helping UEH develop and attain achievements close to international standards.”

Besides, international cooperation activities also create strong resonances with scientific research activities and management activities of the University. Especially in the context of the Covid pandemic, almost international activities are suspended. With collective efforts, many international cooperation activities of the University have changed from face-to-face to online. Specifically, in the period of 2020-2022, we received more than 62 international delegations with more than 360 international delegates, brought 152 UEH students to exchange, and received nearly 200 international students to study and work at UEH, continue to expand international relations with 142 MOUs/MOAs signed with strategic partners in Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA, Canada... The expansion with these partners has also changed the mindset and vision of UEH, helping us access a global perspective and promote the development of the University towards internationalization.
In addition, over the past time, UEH has focused on continuously perfecting and implementing policies on funding, international research published in prestigious scientific journals, cooperation policies, research directions, and academic integrity policies.
Promoting the achievements in the past time, UEH's development orientation for scientific research and international cooperation activities in the period of 2023-2025 will focus on the following aspects: Linking to the University's strategy of Multidisciplinary and Sustainability; Must always aim to strengthen UEH's academic reputation; The effective use of UEH resources must be ensured, specifically, focusing on promoting academic research activities, applied research, perfecting mechanisms and policies to encourage and manage science management processes, develop and effectively use international cooperation resources, and enhance the synergy between international cooperation activities and the fields of training, scientific research.

It can be affirmed that, in order to achieve the achievements in scientific research and international cooperation of today, besides the wise direction of UEH Board of Directors, there are also the constant efforts of the entire unit and the lecturers. Therefore, at the conference, the University's leaders praised and rewarded collectives and individuals for their active contributions to the university's scientific research and international cooperation activities in the period of 2020 - 2022.

The results of UEH in scientific research and international cooperation activities in the past period have shown that the innovation policy in science and international cooperation management activities of the University has been on the right track with the outstanding efforts of the leadership team, research team, lecturers and officials of the University. Entering a new stage of development, if we continue to maintain and promote the achieved results and make more efforts, UEH's academic reputation will become stronger and stronger in the world arena, thereby making UEH become a multidisciplinary university with an academic reputation and sustainable action in the Asia region by 2030.
