ShanghaiRanking 2024: Finance, Economics, and Management Majors at UEH Ranked Higher in the World

ShanghaiRanking Consultancy (China) has just announced the world university rankings by academic field 2024. Of which, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is the only university in Vietnam with a training field ranked 38th in the world, which is considered the highest ranking of Vietnam on this ranking to date.
ShanghaiRanking Consultancy (China) is one of the most prestigious, experienced and influential university ranking organizations in the world, along with the Times Higher Education and QS (UK) rankings. This organization has been publishing the world university rankings since 2009 and the world university rankings by academic field have been published by since 2017.
According to ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, the organization uses a range of objective academic indicators and third-party data to measure the performance of universities in each subject. Based on five criteria groups: world-class output, high-quality research, research impact, international collaboration, and world-class faculty.
This year, ShanghaiRanking Consultancy ranked 55 majors in more than 1,900 universities out of 5,000 units from 96 countries and territories. These 55 majors are divided into 5 fields: natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences, and social sciences. Vietnam has 9 representatives with a total of 19 majors ranked across 4 fields this year.
Ranking criteria of 1,900 world universities by academic field 2024
In particular, in terms of field rankings, the Finance major of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City has excelled over 150 universities (listed such as Oxford, California, Dartmouth, Singapore National University, Cambridge, Melbourne, etc.) to rank 38th in the world, up 1 place higher compared to that in 2023. According to ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, this is considered the highest ranking, up to the current time, to date of Vietnamese universities on this ranking.
In addition, the Economics major of UEH is ranked 201-300. On the other hand, Business Administration is also introduced for the first time in the world rankings, and holds a position in the 301-400 group.
Previously, according to the international ranking of research institutions (SCImago 2022), UEH is one of the top universities in Vietnam in the fields of Economics, Finance, Business, Management, Accounting, etc. and new multidisciplinary fields listedsuch as Energy, Environmental Science, Social Science, Mathematics Statistics, etc. In addition, UEH is also in the top 10 leading higher education institutions in the country in terms of the number of programs accredited by foreign organizations such as FIBAA (Switzerland - Germany), Southeast Asian University Network (AUN-QA) with 20 multidisciplinary training programs meeting international quality standards.
These positive results once again show that UEH has been steadily moving forward on the path to realizing its internationalization strategy with the vision of becoming a leading Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University in Asia, with a commitment to training global citizens and contributing knowledge to the community for a sustainable future.
