ShanghaiRanking 2026: Three UEH Disciplines Featured in the Global Rankings, with Finance Placed in the 101–150 Group

Finance, Economics and Business Administration Ranked in GRAS

Among the three UEH disciplines featured in GRAS 2026, Finance achieved the highest ranking, placing in the 101 - 150 worldwide group. The two disciplines of Economics and Business Administration were both placed in the 301 - 400 group.

These results are subject-specific rankings, reflecting UEH's research activities and academic presence in Finance, Economics and Business Administration. The continued presence across all three disciplines indicates that UEH's research capacity continues to be recognized by an international ranking system with broad evaluation coverage.

How Does ShanghaiRanking Evaluate Academic Disciplines?

ShanghaiRanking originated from the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), first published in 2003. In addition to its overall ranking, ShanghaiRanking publishes the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) to evaluate the academic performance of universities by discipline.

In 2026, GRAS covers 57 disciplines across five broad fields: Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences. To be considered for ranking in a discipline, a higher education institution must meet the publication threshold for that discipline during the 2021 - 2025 period.

The ranking methodology uses five groups of criteria: academic excellence, outstanding academic achievements, high-quality research, research impact and international collaboration. The indicators consider publications in leading journals, the number of papers published in Q1 journals, field-normalized citation impact and the proportion of publications with authors from at least two countries. Publication data are collected from Web of Science and InCites; indicator weights vary according to the research characteristics of each discipline.

UEH's Strengths Across International Subject and Field Rankings

The 2026 ShanghaiRanking results continue UEH's presence in subject and field-based rankings.

Previously, according to the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2025, UEH ranked Top 1 in Vietnam in Business, Management and Accounting; Top 2 in Arts and Humanities, Economics, Econometrics and Finance; and Top 3 in Social Sciences.

At the global level, the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 placed UEH's Economics and Econometrics discipline in the 251-300 group; the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2025 placed UEH in the 301+ group for Business and Economics and the 501+ group for Social Sciences.

Each system has its own evaluation methodology, but the results collectively show UEH's position in fields where it has built a long-standing research foundation, while also expanding its academic presence in other areas.

Subject and field-based ranking results recognize the academic foundation that UEH has built, while also highlighting the need to continue enhancing the quality and impact of research. Along its journey toward becoming a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University, UEH will strengthen international collaboration, connect knowledge across disciplines and translate research outcomes into practical contributions to the community and society.
