SIBM Seminar 1 “Logistics managers’ competence and firms’ logistics performance: are they related?”

On the afternoon of April 13, 2023, the School of International Business - Marketing (College of Business UEH) held the SIBM seminar "Logistics managers' competence and firms' logistics performance: are they related?". The seminar introduced the preliminary results of the joint research between UEH University and RMIT University (Australia) in the industry on the relationship between logistics and supply chain capabilities with logistics performance of enterprises to researcher, experts, scholars and students.

There was the presence of Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Thu - Dean of School of International Business - Marketing, Dr. Nguyen Kim Thao, lecturers and students, and many researchers from universities and experts from enterprises. With the participation of leading researchers in the industry and businesses, the School of International Business - Marketing will continue to promote practical activities with the desire to bring valuable and practical insights to the community.

Seminar was honored to receive the presentation of Prof. Shams Rahman - Professor of Logistics & Supply Chain Management, RMIT University (Australia), Prof. Thai Van Vinh - Professor of Logistics & Supply Chain Management, RMIT University (Australia) and Mr. Le Tran Nhat Phuong - Deputy General Director of Bee Logistics Corporation.

Opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Thu said this is a series of academic research and practice of the School of International Business – Marketing to identify ways to improve practice in complex situations by developing knowledge that emerges directly from everyday practice.

At the beginning of the seminar, Mr. Le Tran Nhat Phuong - - Deputy General Director of Bee Logistics Corporation shared the actual situation of using human resources at the enterprise today: the requirements for skills, knowledge, and attitudes of management positions. and challenges in the recruitment process. The presentation outlined the "real picture" to be able to pinpoint a handful of logistics skills that have not yet been able to develop with current professional experience.

Continuing the program, Prof. Shams Rahman and Prof. Thai Van Vinh presented the main topic of the seminar "Logistics managers' competence and firms' logistics performance: are they related?". The research results clarify the important logistics capabilities in the industry and the influence of these capabilities on the performance of individual managers and the logistics performance of enterprises in Viet Nam.

This seminar is an opportunity for experts to discuss practical issues in capacity training activities for logistics personnel. The seminar has made significant contributions to raising awareness about the capabilities and skills of logistics personnel in Vietnam and the world in general.
