Signing ceremony of Memorandum of Association between UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD) and General Reinsurance AG Company (Gen Re), Singapore Branch

The signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Association (MOA) between UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD) and General Reinsurance AG Company (Gen Re), Singapore Branch took place successfully at 14:00 on September 7, 2023, at Campus B of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh (UEH) - 279 Nguyen Tri Phuong, Ward 05, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City.

Attending the signing ceremony, on behalf of Gen Re Company, there were Mr. Timothy Chong - Head of Mainland Southeast Asia and Mr. Martin Dao - Marketing Actuary of Gen Re. On the behalf of UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD), there was the participation of Dr. Thai Kim Phung - Vice Head of UEH CTD; Dr. Ha Van Son - Deputy Dean, in charge of the School of Mathematics and Statistics; Dr. Tran Thi Tuan Anh - Deputy Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics; Ms. Bui Thi Le Thuy - Director of Risk Analysis and Insurance Pricing Program at UEH; with the participation of a number of students of the School of Mathematics and Statistics.

Overview of the signing ceremony

Gen Re Company is one of the world's leading companies in the field of insurance and reinsurance; risk assumption and assessment to propose the most suitable solution for customers. Representing Gen Re Company at the signing ceremony, Mr. Timothy Chong - Head of Mainland Southeast Asia - shared Gen Re's vision and goals in cooperating with CTD to jointly develop the Actuary training segment. In addition, he proposed some specific plans to support resources for the Risk Analysis and Insurance Actuarial training programs at UEH. Therefore, Dr. Thai Kim Phung - Vice Head of UEH CTD - expressed his appreciation and excitement for the upcoming cooperation program between the two sides and highly acknowledged the plans and cooperation results that the two sides will achieve in the future,  aiming at comprehensive and sustainable development for the community.

At the ceremony, Dr. Tran Thi Tuan Anh - Deputy Head of the School of Mathematics and Statistics - emphasized the meeting and cooperation process between CTD and Gen Re in developing the field of actuarial training for the Vietnamese labor market and expressed her desire to improve training quality and satisfy the Southeast Asian market.

Through discussion and exchange, the two sides agreed and signed a MOA. Accordingly, Gen Re will provide financial support to students of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, specifically refunding exam fees for students who pass professional exams set by the Society of Actuary (SOA) and have a good academic record.

The success of the signing ceremony between UEH College of Technology and Design and General Reinsurance AG Company, Singapore Branch has marked an important milestone in the cooperative relationship between CTD in particular and UEH in general with Gen Re, with the hope for future achievements and opportunities for improving the quality of the Risk Analysis and Insurance Actuarial Training Program at UEH.
