SOG DAY 2026: Academic Connection and Dissemination of Public Values Towards UEH's 50th Anniversary

On May 16, 2026, the School of Government (SOG), under the UEH College of Economics, Law and Government (CELG), University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), organized the "SOG DAY 2026" program, which attracted the participation of numerous lecturers, guests, partners, doctoral students, graduate students, undergraduates, and alumni of the School.

SOG DAY 2026 was designed as a space for academic, professional, and community connection, featuring three main activities: the Scientific Conference - SOG Conference, the networking program - SOG Gather, and the SOG Meet 2026.

The program commenced with the SOG Conference, featuring research presentations by doctoral students in Public Management and the Public Management and Policy program. Many topical subjects were discussed, including innovation in the public sector, green logistics governance, smart urban governance, sustainable finance for smart cities, and public service quality in the context of digital transformation. The presentations reflected the research orientation linked to current governance practice, while creating a forum for academic exchange among lecturers, doctoral students, and learners.

Within the framework of the SOG Gather program, various vibrant community connection activities took place, including meetings between generations of UEH-SOGers, networking, commemorative photography, and a 1:1 coaching program between alumni and graduate students with undergraduates. This was considered a highlight contributing to strengthening the bond between generations of SOG learners.

On the afternoon of the same day, the SOG Meet 2026 program continued with the participation of CELG leadership, local leaders, businesses, and the academic community. Speaking at the program, Dr. Tran Thi Tuan Anh - Vice Rector of the UEH College of Economics, Law and Government emphasized the role of the School of Government in training, research, and community connection linked to promoting public governance innovation and local development. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Le Hoang Thuy To Quyen - Acting Head of the School of Government UEH shared the strategic development direction of SOG for the coming period, including: enhancing training quality according to international standards linked to practice, developing scientific research capacity, strengthening local cooperation, and building a sustainable SOG community.

One of the notable contents of SOG Meet 2026 was the signing ceremony of cooperation agreements between CELG and the People's Committee of Cau Kieu Ward and LSP Agency to expand linkages between the university, local government, and businesses.

Additionally, a seminar on the theme "Local Development Governance in the Context of a Two-Tier Local Government" attracted significant attention with presentations on local development governance, night-time economy development, and digital transformation in local governance. The exchanges at the seminar demonstrated the need for governance mindset innovation, enhanced multi-stakeholder coordination, and the application of digital technology in the context of changing local government models.

The program concluded with the launch of the Public Value Research and Development Club (PVC), along with the announcement of the alumni database and the SOG bulletin board. These activities are expected to contribute to building a sustainable academic ecosystem and community connection for the School of Government in the coming period.

On the journey towards the 50th anniversary of UEH's establishment, the program contributed to spreading the spirit of public service, promoting modern governance values, and affirming UEH's role in accompanying localities, businesses, and society for sustainable development.
