Tangible Performance: ArtTech Symphony Spreading the Message of Sustainable Future

On the evening of October 23, 2024, the Tangible Performance occurred at Hall A.116 of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). This event is part of the international ArtTech Fusion 2024 series taking place at UEH, attracting more than 1,500 participants including domestic and international researchers, artists, businesses, designers, journalists and students of UEH and universities in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Tangible Performance is co-organized by 15 international universities and 11 organizations, with 13 financers and 2 media sponsors.

Tangible Performance brought a multi-sensory art experience where technology and creativity intervened, conveying a profound message regarding a sustainable future. With innovation, the performance immersed the audience in a vibrant space of technological art. The artists presented their works with a strong ArtTech imprint through the use of advanced technology listed as Reactable to create tangible musical melodies. Interactive effects created by touchdesigner - a visual programming language - that helps create impressive lighting and visual effects, seamlessly combined with sound and choreography. A special highlight was the appearance of real-time interactive performances, where artists create and perform directly in front of the audience. Every moment is unique and unrepeatable, creating a strong connection between performers and audiences.

Overview of the Tangible Performance 

At the program, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City - remarked: “Through the transmission of art technology, the Tangible Performance brings new perspectives on the combination of technology and art, spreading positive messages to help future generations solve problems of modern society, nurturing the spirit of innovation towards a green planet, a good and sustainable society.”

At Tangible Performance, audiences are treated to stunning live performances, where the melody of the piano and the tangible music from the sensor console blend with colorful costumes, creating a vibrant space of technology and art. Each performance is a unique story, evoking emotions and inspiring the audience.

The program opened with a musical performance combining modern dance and piano through the song "Passacaglia", bringing the audience new and emotional artistic experiences through the sophistication of music combined with modern technological elements. The main performances include BIRTH - A work by Artist Enrique Tomás (Austria), exploring the origin of the universe and the journey of evolution; MYSTERIOUS - A work by Professor Martin Kaltenbrunner (Austria), the mysteries of galaxies and the story of the stars with tangible music; REBORN - A work by Artist Datu Arellano (Philippines), praising the beauty of rebirth and positive energy.

Each performance is a unique story, evoking emotions and inspiring the audience.

Along with that are fashion shows depicting the story of the development of the earth - the confrontation between technology, economy and nature, in which future generations play a particularly important role in helping to create change and transform the world; sending a strong message concerning preserving nature and cultural values, heritage, protecting the environment and developing our green planet. The collections presented include "Leucocoprinus Cretaceus" - by Designer Do Phan Tra My; "Long Hi Ngu" by Designer Phan Ba ​​Tai; "Blood Red Skipper" by Designer Dang Ngoc Van Anh, "The Forests Are Burning" by Designer Tran Thi Yen; "Beautiful Nature" - International Designer, Dr. Quynh Paris; Collection "Sparkling Stars" - Designer Phan Huan Bin.

One special performance was the artificial intelligence-integrated fashion show “LEXY AI Fashion Show” which demonstrated the connection between AI and humans to tell the story: In the context of crisis, technology needs to support humanity towards sustainable development, help restore the Earth and preserve traditional values. People must learn to live in harmony with machines so that modern technology becomes a tool to support life and to preserve cultural values ​​and heritage.

The performance ended with the song “ATF Song”, expressing gratitude and greetings from UEH to all attendees and a promise to see them again at ArtTech Fusion 2025.

Each piece of the Tangible Performance depicts a profound story related to the relationship between humans and nature and the challenges we face. Today's youth hold the key towards building a sustainable future by promoting environmental protection activities and advocating for positive change by developing technology, art and nature in harmony.

Therefore, the ATF24 International series is not only an art event but also a call for everyone to join hands to build a better world, reminding us of the power of technology in exploiting and clarifying the power of art.
