The 45th Anniversary of The University of Economics HCMC Towards Multidisciplinary And Sustainable UEH University

On the morning of October 27th, 2021, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh (UEH) solemnly held the 45th anniversary (27/10/1976 – 27/10/2021), marking achievements on the map of higher education of Vietnam and the world, with important contributions to the construction and development of the country. In particular, this is also the official milestone of launching 3 member colleges, aiming for a multidisciplinary and sustainable UEH University. The event was also organized online using bilingual English - Vietnamese via UEH's online media channels with the participation of domestic and foreign partners and guests.

The ceremony was extremely honored to have Meritorious Prof. Dr. Vuong Dinh Hue - Member of the Politburo, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, with his online congratulatory remarks to UEH’s 45th anniversary. Representative of Leaders of Ministry of Education and Training, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc - Deputy Minister of Education and Training.

The celebration was also honored to welcome Mr. Phan Van Mai - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to attend and make his congratulatory remark.

UEH is also honored to welcome the presence and online participation of our Distinguished Guests, all of whom are representatives of Central Committee Offices, of the Ministry of Education and Training, Leaders of City Departments, Vinh Long Province and the local regions currently in partnership with UEH, as well as the Standing Party Committee of University and Colleges of Ho Chi Minh City, Representatives of Diplomatic Agencies and Foreign Nations, Business Leaders of both local and international partners of UEH.

The ceremony also had the attendance of former and current leadership members of the National Economics University and other higher education institutions in the city, as well as our international partners, such as Western Sydney University in Australia, and Victoria University of Wellington University, New Zealand.

The proud 45-year journey

During the 45-year journey of construction, striving and growth, generations of teachers, officials, and students of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City have always strived to overcome difficulties and challenges, constantly innovated, created, and developed the university into a high-quality training institution. The university has been a place to transfer and apply scientific research results into practice, actively participating in the policy-making process and effectively contributing to the economic development of HCMC and the country. At the Celebration, UEHers reflected UEH's proud 45-year journey through historical footage.

Delivering his remarks on this joyous 45th anniversary of UEH, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the UEH Council shared: “Today, October 27, 2021 is a very special and proud day because it marks 45 years since UEH has affirmed its position on the higher education map of Vietnam, step by step affirming its academic reputation in the world. UEH is not only one of the nation's key public universities, but also a pioneering and innovative high educational institution in training, research and social responsibility to the community. Celebrating 45 years of establishment, let's share our pride in the development process and the significant contributions of UEH to the construction and socio-economic development of Vietnam and localities throughout the country and our active contribution to the process of regional global integration.”

On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of UEH, on behalf of Party Committee Leaders and the Government, Prof. Dr. Vuong Dinh Hue - Member of the Politburo, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam warmly praised and congratulated the outstanding achievements of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City in the past 45 years. “In the coming time, with its position as a leading training and research institution of the nation and a key contributor to the production of high-quality professionals, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City must continue to effectively master and implement the guidelines and policies of the Party and State on education and training, focusing on the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress, while remaining at the forefront of innovation, creativity in training, scientific research and pioneering in integration, and successfully enforce the University model in the spirit of the Revised Law on Higher Education 2018” - Prof. Dr. Vuong Dinh Hue shared.

Especially, UEH is proud and truly honored to be granted the First-Class Medal of Independence by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. This Medal is one of the most distinguished accomplishments that the Vietnamese government confers upon groups or individuals with outstanding contributions and performance towards the development of the nation. This is formal recognition from the Party and the Goverment of the role and achievements that UEH has held over the past 45 years.

With these achievements, UEHers are absolutely proud to mention the name UEH, and even more proud to witness the transformation of UEH to become a multidisciplinary and sustainable university. On behalf of UEH, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – President, sincerely thanked the leaders of the Party, the Goverment, the Ministry of Education and Training, the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and provinces, organizations, individuals and former and current leadership members of UEH, members of the University Council and Departmental Heads at UEH; and the entire faculty, staff, students, and alumni who have always accompanied and contributed to the development of UEH in the 45-year journey. UEH went through 45 years full of achievements; this is the crystallization of wisdom, efforts, solidarity and love of all leaders, lecturers, officials, employees, employees, students, members and learners over the years, the support of UEH's domestic and foreign partners along with the values accumulated over time.

Entering a new stage with a restructuring strategy is an important decision for UEH, but it is indispensable for maintaining and promoting UEH's achievements in the past 45 years, which is a requirement of the context in the global era, is the mission to contribute to human knowledge and the responsibility of UEH to society and the country. The challenges ahead will be many, but one thing is for sure, the whole UEHer, with its inherent values and traditional strengths and community cohesion, will work together to achieve the same expectations and results as previous generations.
