The Signing Ceremony Of Academic And Research Collaboration Between Ueh And University Padjadjaran (Unpad), Indonesia

On February 20, 2023 University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) organised the Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University Padjadjaran (UNPAD), Indonesia, marking the commencement of Academic and Research Collaboration between two universities.

Representatives from UEH include Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - UEH Vice President; Dr. Pham Duong Phuong Thao - Vice Head of the Department of Research Management and International Cooperation; the Schools’ Board of Deans and Head of Administration from the College of Business - COB, the Board of Deans from the School of Economics and Head of Administration Office from the College of Economics, Law, and Government – CELG; and the Board of Deans from the School of Foreign Language (UEH).

Representatives from the University Padjadjaran (UNPAD), Indonesia include Prof. Nunuy Nur Afiah - Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Prof. Maman Setiawan - Vice Dean for Academics, Student, and Research, Dr. Kurniawan Saefullah - Vice Dean for Organizations and Resource, Prof. Yudi Azis - Head of the Doctoral Program in Management Science, departments' managers, lecturers and Ph.D. candidates of UNPAD.

On behalf of UEH, Dr. Dinh Cong Khai gave an opening remark in which he stated: "UEH's goal is to become a leading multi-disciplinary and sustainable university with a reputation for high-quality training, research, and scientific consultation in economics, finance, business, management, and technology in Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and Asia. As such, strengthening international partnerships with our distinguished partners has been a central focus over the past few years. This has led to the agreement of both UEH and UNPAD in signing the MOU on academic and research collaboration embodying a strong partnership that we firmly believe will create great values for both sides and open tremendous opportunities for UEH and University Padjadjaran."

On behalf of UNPAD, Prof. Nunuy Nur Afiah - Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, stated, "UNPAD and UEH have the same vision of enhancing the education and the research programs. Therefore, we cannot wait to establish future joint events, such as a joint conference, student and lecturer exchange, visiting professors, or even post-doctoral work. I strongly believe that we share a common intention to move forward together, and by committing to this cooperation, hopefully, we can gain an international reputation together."

According to the agreement stated in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), UEH and UNPAD will collaboratively work on the following academic activities:

  • Developing higher education programs, including degree and non-degree programs;
  • Conducting research collaboration in the areas of mutual interest to both parties;
  • Exchanging academic materials which are made available by both parties;
  • Exchanging  students and lecturers in the course of educational development to address problems of academic progress; and
  • Co-organizing and sponsoring seminars, workshops, and other academic meetings.

At the ceremony, the School of Banking and School of Accounting from the College of Business (UEH), and the School of Economics from the College of Economics, Law and Government (UEH) were also going to sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to promote student exchange activities (summer and academic semesters), develop academic joint programs, award master's and doctoral scholarships between both universities, and open up practical internship opportunities to bring positive effects to learners.

University Padjadjaran (UNPAD), Indonesia - established in 1957, is one of the top public universities in Bandung, Indonesia. UNPAD was also ranked as one of the top ten universities in Indonesia by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education in 2016. In the 2019 QS World Universities Ranking, UNPAD is ranked 4th in Indonesia and got in the range of 651-700th rankings in the world.

Given promising potentials and opportunities, the collaboration between UEH and University Padjadjaran will create an academic ecosystem that helps develop competent human resources, excellent graduates (brilliant, competitive, characterized, and productive), and research results of international repute.
