With a strategic focus on internationalizing its curriculum, enhancing lecturer research capabilities and international publications, and strengthening UEH’s global recognition -aligning with the new vision of “Becoming a multidisciplinary and sustainable university, ranked in the Top 250 in Asia in the 2025-2030 period and advancing to the Top 150 in Asia by the 2030-2045 period.” - the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is launching the "UEH Scholar Exchange Program".
Inspired by the sabbatical leave policy at renowned universities, the "UEH Scholar Exchange Program" offers a unique opportunity for UEH lecturers to engage in an international academic research environment. Through this program, lecturers will have the chance to spend 3 to 6 months working and conducting research at top-ranked institutions globally and regionally (QS Asia 250, THE 500, QS World Top 500) or at partner universities with existing collaboration agreements with UEH. This program not only provides exposure to advanced research environments but also serves as an opportunity to expand knowledge, adopt innovative teaching methods, and enhance academic expertise.
With the goal of realizing UEH’s vision to become a “multidisciplinary university ranked among the top 250 higher education institutions in Asia by 2030”, the "UEH Scholar Exchange Program" is designed to serve as a key catalyst in achieving four core strategic objectives:
1. Enhancing research capacity and encouraging international publications
As UEH expands into the UEH Global Hub, becoming a sustainable university with international recognition, the "UEH Scholar Exchange Program" provides lecturers with opportunities to explore and apply new research directions and methodologies, aiming at achieving high-quality research. Additionally, by experiencing life in advanced academic environments, lecturers can expand their international networks, fully dedicate themselves to learning and professional development, and pursue major research projects and international publications.
2. Strengthening UEH’s recognition in the international academic community
The presence of UEH lecturers at international academic forums and key academic conferences enables the university to stay aligned with modern educational trends while enhancing its reputation in the global academic community. In addition, the program helps address challenges related to research impact and knowledge dissemination by fostering technology transformation, expanding research fields, and strengthening academic connections. This, in turn, creates greater opportunities for collaboration in research and teaching.
3. Innovating and internationalizing the current curriculum
Beyond academic research and scholarly exchange, experiencing the learning and working environments at renowned global universities presents a valuable opportunity for lecturers to adopt and integrate advanced teaching methodologies from leading education systems. This exposure enables lecturers to update and enhance course content, develop internationally standardized programs, and improve teaching quality at UEH.
4. Attracting domestic and international lecturers and scholars
To strengthen its faculty and attract global talent, UEH focuses on building a strong employer brand and talent management strategy by implementing supportive policies that enable lecturers and researchers to engage in domestic and international academic networks, forums, and organizations. The "UEH Scholar Exchange Program" not only provides local lecturers with opportunities to enhance their expertise through collaboration with leading global scholars and experts but also serves as a platform to promote UEH’s academic brand internationally. This helps attract exceptional scholars and experts to teach and conduct research at UEH, contributing to the university’s long-term sustainable development.
